What is an Ability Score?
let us save
you time
Ability scores are used to tell how your student or students have performed on the monthly ISIP Assessments. Like measuring a child’s height and weight, the ability score measures a student’s growth over time. As the student’s ability improves, the ability score increases in number. Students who have the same ability score, regardless of grade, have the same ability level.

Summary & Tips: Reports & Features
• Best practice is to check the ISIP Summary Report once a month, immediately following your student’s ISIP.
• Use the top of the ISIP Summary to (bar graphs) to drive whole group instruction for skill specific intervention, when your bars are very red!
• Look at the second half of the report to review individual student scores.
• Remember students will have an Overall Ability Score, and Subtest Scores.
• Don’t forget the blue plus sign (+) beside each student’s name to review monthly performance of a specific student.
• Remember that blue plus signs (+) means added bonus of information. Don’t forget to click the blue plus signs to receive the “added bonus”!
• Best practice is to check your Priority Report once a week. Pick a day that is helpful for you, and that helps you plan intervention delivery time.
• Remember to intervene as soon as you note the priority alert on the report. The sooner, the better.
• If the student demonstrated progress, or regression with a noted skill, document it on this report (place a check mark by clicking the box beside the student’s name, intervention box opens, type a note.).
• The Priority Report is your “go-to” report for RTI, IEP Meetings, 504 & SST Committee Meetings; for documentation reasons, especially!
Summary & Tips: Reports & Features
• Best practice is to check the Student Summary Handout once every month.
• Review the student’s progress with them. This will teach ownership and accountability for their own educational performance.
• Review and discuss with the parents of the student’s, this report. This is your “Parent Teacher Conference” report. This report can spark helpful and informed conversation.
• Don’t forget that each graph is “living”! This means that you can click on each one, and it will take you to the Skill Growth Report.; which will display the red “Teacher Intervention Delivered” line. This will help you to answer the age old question in education when providing intervention, “Is the intervention working, and if so, as evidenced by what? Your evidence will be obvious!

Summary & Tips: Automated Data-Driven Differentiated
Instruction • Remember students roll seamlessly into the Automated Data Driven
Differentiated Instruction, after they completed the ISIP. • Students should be given at least 20-30 minutes to work within the
Differentiated Instruction. • If students are not given the minimum of 20 minutes, you will hear them
tell you, “Teacher…I did this already!”. Give them that needed time. • If you only have 1-2 computers in your classroom, use a timer to rotate
students on and off of the Istation Program. • Always put your Tier 3 students on first, as they warrant the most
intervention. • Follow-up by putting the Tier 2 students on next. Remember, the timer will
help you stay organized. • Keep in mind that each student will be working at their own ability, as the
Assessment drives the instruction. • Allow students to take a break by using the blue pause button on the
screen, if they become observantly distant, inattentive, or fidgety.
