Itinerary of your cruise

Day 1 - SaturdayIstanbul

On the banks of the majestic Bosphorus, this is a city that straddles continents. With Sultanahmet influenced by the East and Beyoglu by the West,Istanbul is teeming with stunning sights. The city feels at ease with its cultural heritage, creating an atmosphere that blends the cosmopolitan with thetraditional. Ship docked, no water sports.

Day 2 - SundayDikili

Dikili, an attractive coastal town with beaches and crystal-clear water, is also a gateway to Pergamon. The latter was a hub of the Hellenistic world, andthe well-preserved site sheds ample light on the city's artistic and cultural importance. Ship at anchor. Water sports available.

Day 3 - MondayDidyma

The sanctuary of Apollo, site of the oracle, rivalled that of Delphi. The enormous temple gives an idea of what the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, one ofthe 7 wonders of the world, might have been like. Ship at anchor. Water sports.

Day 4 - TuesdayMilos This volcanic island with astonishing landscapes and pink, white and gold beaches is the home of the celebrated Venus. Ship at anchor. Water sports.

Day 5 - WednesdayChania

Day 6 - ThursdayAgios Nikolaos

This pretty little town has an enigmatic natural feature at its heart. As the town has grown around the lake, so have the legends and stories about thisunusual body of water. It forms the perfect backdrop for a drink on the terrace of one of the many cafes.

Day 7 - FridayRhodes

While it's the Colosseum that has made Rhodes famous, the jasmine-scented streets have much more to offer. Wander in the footsteps of the Knights ofSt John, explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the medieval city, or simply soak up the easygoing Rhodes way of life. Ship docked, no watersports.

Day 8 - SaturdayBodrum

Our course is set for Bodrum and its meandering coastline. With picture-perfect house fronts, a medieval castle and calm waters, it really is a jewel in theAegan's crown. Ship docked, no water sports.

The most iconic of Istanbul's monuments opens its doors exclusively for Club Med 2 passengers. Visit the immense structure, once the Sancta Sophiabasilica, now the Hagia Sophia, after the doors have been closed to normal visitors. Experience the unique atmosphere that unfurls once the crowds havedeparted and calm is restored. Appreciate the sheer size of this monument, and its history as part of Byzantium, then Constantinople, and now Istanbul.Enjoy this exceptional and unmissable experience as the sun goes down.

Day 1 - Saturday Istanbul / Grand Bazaar andHagia Sophia Exclusive (1/2

day, afternoon) *

Begin your walk in the world's biggest market, and discover the riches of this cultural crossroads. Lose yourself in the meandering bustle, where 58internal streets, 2000 shops and countless items await. Then enjoy the Hagia Sophia Exclusive experience, with only your group in the building. Day 2 - Sunday Dikili / Pergame (1/2 day,

morning) *

Pergamon once had a library as famous as that at Alexandria. Today, you can still visit the ruins of this famous library by the Acropolis, and see vestigesof Ancient Greek culture including a theatre, the Temple of Dionysus, the Agora and the Altar of Zeus. In the 2nd century AD, Pergamon became the Asiancapital of the Roman Empire. The Temple of Trajan is a wonderful testament to this period.

Day 3 - Monday Didyme / Priène, Milet and

Didyme (1/2 day) *

Head off to explore three exceptional archaeological sites, starting with Priene, one of the most beautiful cities of ancient times, with its two ports, stunningand wonderfully preserved Greek theatre and paved streets. Then head for Miletus, whose two ports made it the most powerful commercial city of the 12cities in the Ionian League. Lastly, you will visit the Temple of Apollo in Didyma, which remains vast despite the destruction of a major part of itscolonnade. The ensemble is one of the most impressive in ancient Greece.

Day 3 - Monday Didyma / Ephesus and

Sirince (1 day) *

Until the port silted up, forever separating the city from the sea, Ephesus was the most important trading centre in the ancient world. Amongst its treasureswas the Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the world. It reached its height during the Roman period, and erected many monuments befittingits importance. But Ephesus has not lain in obscurity since antiquity. Christians went on to build one of their most beautiful basilicas there, and Muslimsbuilt a grand mosque. The remains of this illustrious and exceptionally well-preserved city are so lifelike that it takes little imagination to see what dailyexistence was like. Visit the archaeological site and the museum, then have lunch in Sirince, a traditional little village nestled among the hills, where youcan wander for half an hour before your return.

Day 4 - Tuesday Milos - The many faces of

Milos (1/2 day) *

Milos is the cradle of the history of the Cyclades islands from prehistoric times. This panoramic tour enables you to discover the beauty of the scenery ofthis charming island with its lunar landscapes. It will take you to Plaka, where you can admire the traditional architecture, including the marble theatre andthe site where the world's most famous statue, the Venus of Milos, was discovered.

Day 5 - Wednesday La Canée (Chania) / Akrotiri

and its monasteries (1/2day, morning) *

First, you'll visit the heights of the Akrotiri peninsula, home to the Venizelos family's final resting place and a wonderful view of Chania. Then you'll travelto the monastery of Haghia Triada, founded in the 17th century, with its Renaissance church. Finally, you'll see the Chrysopigi monastery, built in the 16thcentury.

Day 6 - Thursday Agios Nicolaos - Heraklionand Knossos (1 day - lunch

not included) *

With its main palace, sumptuous villas and remnants of paved streets, Knossos, 5 km from Heraklion, is the largest and most historically significantMinoan site discovered in Crete.The palace was once home to Minos, the founder of Crete's powerful navy.It was built around 1700 BC, on the ruins of aformer palace destroyed during an earthquake.Later, you'll visit the Heraklion Archaeological Museum to see some of its many treasures. Then make yourway to the historic town centre, where you might like to taste a few mezze dishes, or try some local specialities.

Day 6 - Thursday Agios Nicolaos - Sail in

Spina Longa *

Sail the turquoise waters off Crete to the island of Spinalonga. Due to its strategic position guarding the entry to the commercial port of Elounda, control ofthe island has often been disputed. Discover a rich history uncovered by archaeological digs, with fortifications and other remains left by Byzantine,Venetian, Ottoman and Greek societies over the last 8 centuries.

Day 7 - Friday Rhodes / The butterfly

valley and Kamiros (1/2day, morning) *

This panoramic coach tour takes in the new city of Rhodes, Mandraki port and the Agios Stefanos hill, offering a beautiful view over the city. Then you'llfollow the coast to the ancient city of Kameiros, built on the side of a hill in the time of the Ancient Greeks. Next, the coast road will take you to the Valleyof the Butterflies. This gorgeous forested valley has a calm, cool microclimate. Euplagia quadripunctaria butterflies live in the fresh air of the valley fromMay to September.

Day 7 - Friday Rhodes / The Splendour of

Rhodes (1 day) *

Discover the Island of Roses, and two of its jems: Rhodes and Lindos! A panoramic tour will take you up to Mount Smith, with the remains of an ancientacropolis and a superb view over the sea and the old town. You'll then travel along the eastern coast of the island to the charming village of Lindos, whereyou'll visit the acropolis, an ancient fortress of the Knights of St John from which there is a stunning view. You'll be charmed by the little white streets andcraft shops, and after lunch you'll walk round the Mediaeval city. You'll walk through the famous cobbled Street of the Knights, lined with 15th and 16thcentury Gothic "inns". You'll visit the 14th century Palace of the Grand Masters of the Knights of Rhodes, after which you'll have free time to visit the towncentre before going back to the ship.

Day 7 - Friday Rhodes / Filerimos and citytour (1/2 day, afternoon) *

Discover the stunning landscapes at the northern end of the island, travelling to Mount Filerimos to visit Ancient Ialyssos, founded by knights. Then returnto visit the medieval city of Rhodes on foot, taking the Street of the Knights, one of the most interesting sights in Rhodes. This cobbled road is lined withgothic "inns" from the 15th and 16th centuries, in which the knights lived with others who shared their "tongue" or language. Afterwards, visit the GrandMaster's Palace, built in the 14th century. Return to the boat on foot at your leisure.
