This month, on October 25th, the grade 1 students went to the Ecomuseum. They saw animals such as sea otters, bears, wolves, birds, foxes, etc. They were very excited for t h i s f u n f i e l d t r i p !

Mme Maryse and Mme Gerbaux have started a group called “Parlons en Français”, offered to the grade 1 students. It takes place at lunch and it is to teach the students how to communicate in French. They do skits like going to the movies, ordering a pizza, going to the hairdresser, etc. to learn conversation skills. They started last week and they will continue to learn more.

What does Tweety Bird

say on Hallowe’en?

Trick or Tweet!

Why did the turkey join

the band?

Because he had

drumsticks!

All the grade 3 students went to Iroquois

village. When we got there, we saw a big

palissade around the village. When we went

in, we ate our snack. We visited 5 long houses.

In front of the long houses there were pictures

of animals carved in wood. The animals

represented the families’ last name and the

address. In the long houses there were 10 beds

and 10 families. On each bed one family

stayed on the bottom floor. On the top floor

they kept all the meat to dry and on the top

floor they kept the corn and all the vegetables

to dry. At the end, we got to play games. We

also got to do a treasure hunt of all the things

This month we are making Black Lagoon

books. We have to make a character that

looks like a monster.Basically the story is

about a little boy named Hubie. He goes to

school and hears people spreading rumours

about a new kid or teacher. He hears all

these crazy things about the new kid or

teacher, like he/she eats kids or slams them

against the wall; all those crazy things like

that. But in the end, Hubie realizes that

t h e y a r e n ’ t s o b a d a f t e r a l l .

This month’s student of the month is Mackenzie Briscoe. He is in the sixth grade and he has been at Kuper for 5 years and is 11 years old. His favourite sports are hockey, soccer, football, basketball and baseball. Mackenzie has two brothers, Robbie and Jessie. He has a dog and two parents.

This month’s student of the month is Eloise Latreille. She is ten years old and she is in the fifth grade. Her favourite sport is swimming and she loves gymnastics. She was very happy and exited that she was going to be student of the month. She has an older sister and parents.

The grade six students have been learning

about robotics. For about 4 weeks now, they

have been learning about how a motor affects

the robot and how to program it. They also

learned how to build sensors and how to

program them. They also do many lab reports.

They are having so much fun and are excited

to learn more.

Beauharnois

One of our famous librarians, Mrs. Surbhi

Kaul has been chosen as this months teacher.

Orginally from Africa, Mrs. Kaul has visited

many places around the world like China,

India, and England.

Her favourite author is Alexander McCall

Smith and she reads on a regular basis. Her

favourite restaurant is Towne Hall and she

loves eating milk and biscuits.

She mentioned a funny story that we thought

we’d share: When she was growing up, her

dad said that when she would get married,

she had to make sure she ironed her new

husband’s favourite shirt… but to burn it so

that she would never have to iron again. Folk dancing was a blast! Students who were

involved learned how to dance to four

different types of music:

1) Maple leaf stomp ( a Canadian dance)

2) Cotton Eyed Joe (A Country dance)

3) Virginia Reel ( a Cowboy dance)

4) Pata Pata (a dance with tambourines)

Every year boys and girls are invited to do

impact soccer. It is taught by Darco who was

previously a player for the Montreal Impact

team. The students do drills, play games, and

do exercises to improve their soccer skills. The

children are constantly motivated to do more

while having fun. This activity takes place every

A: I do cross country, Halo and gymnastics.

Q: What sports units do you like in gym?

A: I like soccer, basketball and ultimate Frisbee.

Next we have David Sislian.

Q: What do you like about the soccer team?

A: David said that after being in soccer for so long it has

become second nature to him.

Q:If you had to be on another team at school what would

you be on?

A: If I was not on the soccer team or basketball I would be

on the hockey team!

Thank you David and Emma for sharing with us!

Today we interviewed Ms. Jennifer. She

said, “I love it here; the kids are cute, nice,

positive and fun.” She said that this was a

great and memorable experience for her and

she said she was having the best time

teaching. She is covering Miss Talia’s

maternity leave at our school. She hopes

that she can continue. She said that the

whole time the kids have been energetic,

respectful and always want to play. Her

favourite part is meeting all the kids. She

loves seeing them active and cooperating.

Miss Jennifer is from Montreal and she

loves to travel. She loves watching movies

and coaching soccer. She has one younger

brother. She is having so much fun!

The Division 1 girls and boys soccer teams participated in the

LCC soccer tournament. It was a two day tournament that took

place all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Both teams had

great success at the tournament and to help you understand

more about the tournament we interviewed Ella Philips and

Maxime Grégoire-Kordas.

Q: What place did you come in? (Ella)

A: Our team came in 2nd place.

Q: Who scored the goals for the games in total?

A: Isy, Cassandra, Emma, Sarah, Mika, and Ella

Q: In the tournament how many games did you play?

A: We played 4 games in total.

Q: How do you feel you did?

A: I am proud of my achievements but I need to work harder

on skills and passes

Now here is a little bit that Maxime had to say about his

tournament at LLC.

Q: What place did you come in?

A: We came in 3rd place.

Q: What team did you play for the finals?

Great Learning Starts with

Mrs. Ness

Mrs. Ness has been a teacher at Kuper Academy for

nine years. She has two children of her own. She is a

very dedicated teacher and loves her job.

In her class, her K3 students just did an apple project.

They cut the apples in half. They paint them and then

stamp them on paper to see if the seed can make a

star shape.

The K3s made a bakery and a café. They have to

bring in special ingredients tied to the theme of

Hallowe’en.

The 1st feature is what we like to call

the Barrel Roll of Chrome. On

Google Chrome, there is a feature

called a barrel roll. To see this

feature in action, type in barrel roll in

the search bar and it should work.

NOTE: Does not work on any other

search browser.

The 2nd feature is in Minecraft

Computer Edition. You can rename

with an evil spawn egg “Grumm” and it will become Upside-Down!

The 1st glitch is in Minecraft Pocket Edition, you can

duplicate your items. I don’t want to spoil it for non-

cheaters so search it up online.

In Temple Run, a very popular app, there used to be a

glitch where you could run on forever and ever and ever

and ever… You could have unlimited coins but sadly,

the app got rid of this glitch and now it is an

achievement….

A TOONTASTIC APP Some people’s parents want to supervise them

when it comes to “YouTube”, and some people

want to have some scenes in the videos. But with

the awesome app ‘’TOONTASTIC’’ kids could

create video like cartoons and post them on the

app called ‘’ToonTube’’ similar to “YouTube”.
