Sep 1 Tue Sea of GalileeDrive to Caesarea: the center of early Christians, the capital of Judea under the Romans, and once a proud Roman port city dating back to the time of Herod the Great. Visit the amphitheater and the aqueduct. Continue via Binyamina to visit the Tishbi Winery http://www.tishbi.com/en/on-the-farm/vineyards/ then Drive to the Sea of Galilee , take a boat ride on the Sea and then to Kibbutz Genosar visit the fisherman’s boat discovered in 1986 and dating back to the days of Jesus. Visit The contemporary church at Tabga which celebrates the Miracle of the Multiplication – Drive to the Hotel Freshen up and go out for Dinner, meeting Chef Zuzu Hana at his chef’s Restaurant Magdalena. Continue to Caesarea Philippi to see the source of the Jordan River and the site of Peter’s confession. Continue to the Golan Wineries, one of Israel’s top wineries. Drive to Mt. Bental for an outstanding view of the Upper Galilee and the Golan Heights. End our day at the small family owned Asaf boutique winery for wine tasting and snacks, return to the hotel for overnight. Sep 3 Thu JerusalemDrive to Cana, the site of Jesus’ first miracle, converting water into wine at the wedding. Visit the Church of the Wedding. Continue to Nazareth visit the Church of the Annunciation, drive via Yizrael Valley to Jerusalem and on to Bethlehem. Enjoy lunch at the WijAlamar Restaurant in Bethlehem. Meet a chef, Sari Handal and Ragda Mousa that serves the traditional Arab Cuisine. Then, visit the Church of the Nativity, the oldest church in the holy land still in use. Gisela Kreglinger grew up on a family-owned winery in Franconia, Germany where her family has been crafting wine for many generations. This unique experience has inspired her to write a book about the spirituality of wine.

She holds a PhD in historical theology from the University of St. Andrews and in this book Gisela has woven together her passions for Christian spiritualty and the wonderful and mysterious world of wine.

Sep 4 Fri JerusalemDrive to Mt. of Olives for a panoramic view of Jerusalem. Walk down the Mt. of Olives and see the site where Jesus predicted the future destruction of Jerusalem, the Church of Dominus Flevit (The Lord Wept). Then to the Garden of Gethsemane. Enter the Christian Quarter of the Old City through St. Stephen’s Gate. See the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus healed the lame man, and St. Anne Church, with extraordinary acoustics. Visit the Monastery of the Sisters of Zion and see the Floor of the Lithostrotos, the Ecce Homo Arch (Behold the Man) and the Church of the Flagellation. Walk the Way of the Cross, the Via Dolorosa, to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. This evening, we will enjoy the sound and light show located on the walls of the Old City . (B,D)

Sep 5 Sat JerusalemDrive to visit the Barkan Winery ( http://www.barkan-winery.co.il/en ) outside of Jerusalem. They produce over 10 million bottles annually and have won many awards around the world. In 2000, a new sophisticated winery was established at Hulda kibbutz located in the Judean plain. The winery was designed with 21st century in mind. It boasts the most advanced production technologies in the world. The winery includes laboratories, farms, the packaging center, and the marketing & logistics center. Drive to Neot Kedumim a biblical landscape reserve demonstrating the vegetation and farming since the biblical period – in the Park they display wine pressing techniques in few areas covering the First and Second Temple and Byzantine era. We will do a tour in the park including in depth explanations concerning wine pressing and its significance in the biblical times. End our day at the Garden Tomb and our farewell dinner will be a treat: Drive to Ein Karem, a picturesque neighborhood of Jerusalem and meet chef/artist Atalia Ein Mor. At her home/gallery she combines a workshop on trendy local modern Israeli cuisine and art. (B,D)
