THE petrol price is falling so quickly thata further reduction of R1 may be on thecards, according to economist MikeSchüssler of economists.co.za.

“About two weeks ago I thought it woulddrop another 25 cents, then about a weekago it looked like it would be a 50 cents’drop. Now it is looking like a rand declinecould become true,” he said.

“That would be the second R1 declineand would bring the whole reduction toover R4 or a saving of R580 per month forthe average motorist.”

This will again boost consumer spend-ing on other products and services, in his

view.“Notice how empty shops were just after

Christmas as products sold more than ex-pected. This would be close to 6% of formalsector disposable salaries - that is take-home pay after taxes and pensions, usingBankservAfrica data,” he explained.

“Consumers will take this as anothergood sign and if it were not for the poweroutages, I would estimate that this wouldhave boosted the gross domestic product(GDP) by 2% to 2.5% by now. That is if itlasted for the whole year, of course.”

The BankServAfrica Disposable SalaryIndex shows that typical disposable sala-ries are still just under R10 000 per monthand the average just over R12 000.

In his view what is now needed is to “get

Eskom going and get all politics out” of thepower utility.

Saijil Singh, lead analyst of Coface, theinternational credit insurer, says theirprojections indicate another drop in petrolprice is definitely on the cards, and a 50creduction is a strong likelihood.

“There are various factors to considerhere and the prevalent one is definitely thedrop in oil price. We must be careful, how-ever, to not ignore the reality of a veryweak rand and gains in a dollar-based com-modity are not directly translated locally,”he warned.

“Simply put, while the oil price has comedown by more than 50% in the last sixmonths, it does not mean that consumerswill see a 50% fuel price reduction locally.”

Petrol price could drop by R1Another factor to note, he pointed out,

is that Coface believes the current Brentprice to be an overreaction due to weaken-ing demand from the US.

“We are further predicting the price tonormalise around the $75 mark in the lat-ter part of 2015,” he said.

“Overall, consumers should be gettingsome relief in the form on a fuel price cutlocally, but consumer confidence is stillvery low and we should not expect this toimmediately translate into an increase inretail spend.”

In his view most consumers will be waryof a petrol price hike later in the year andcautious activity could definitely be ex-pected.– Source: news24

RESIDENTS of Ntsimabakazi in ChamsheVillage and surrounding areas in Willowvalehad received a positive response over the in-stallation of electricity in their area from themunicipality of Mbhashe, following commu-nity protests held towards the end of last year.

During last year’s protests, communitymembers were demanding answers from theMbhashe Local Municipality regarding theinstallation of electricity in their area. The Mayor of the Mbhashe Local Munici-

pality, Councillor Nonceba Mfecane, con-firmed that an Electrification Project inChamsheVillagewas going ahead as planned. She said she had received information thatthe site had already been fenced and wasready for the first phase.“TheMunicipality had ironed out the prob-

lems they had encountered with the projectand we have approached the Department ofEnergy. We sat down and came to an agree-ment that the project had to go ahead to sup-

ply Chamshe Village with electricity,” saidMfecane. She said electrifying the area hadstarted earlier, but that amisunderstandingbetween the contractor and the municipali-ty had halted the process. Those issues hadsince been resolved.Mfecane said while people were still wait-

ing for electricity to be installed in Elliot-dale’s Wards 17, 18 and 19, residents will begiven solar systems to use in the meantime.“We saw that Eskom was taking its time

to supply electricity to the area, even thoughthe project is in Eskom’s budget. We then de-cided to supply these communities with so-lar systems in the meantime.”She emphasized that the solar systems

were only a temporary measure. One of the community members in Elliot-

dale, Nosizwe Mangaliso, said they werehappy to hear that their grievances hadbeenheard by the Municipality.“This will be a relief to us, since there is

no life without electricity. We are happyabout what the municipality had done forus,” said Mangaliso.

you will never blind God.

Why boys? It’s just that there arepeoplewhoact in front

by wearing a nice church uniform if not a suitand carry a very advanced Bible, but if ukholois not in your heart or if it is not a calling youare justplayingandGodwill reveal that.Okay, here is a story. There was a guy whomwe used to stay with

at Khwezi Township in UTA some couple ofyears ago.Actually he was a yard-mate.The guy claimed that he was saved and he

prayed about half of the night even in themid-dle of the night.Okay, we had no problem with that even

though his action was a bit tormenting to usbecause he was always disturbing us in ourslumber. But ke nothing esasingayenza the guy had

accepted the calling and ethetha nenkosi yak-he.Every weekend he was not in UTA, stating

that he was going to spread the word of Godin other places particularly Idutywa.Okay sonof God.You remember we said God will reveal if

your ways are not as we see when you are infront of us.In January we met the man again pushing

the word of God very strong in UTA.As you know we travel a lot and sithanda

“I am now a Gospel artist and that has al-ways been my dream,” he said.He said he loves working in radio but not

more than singing Gospel and worshippingGod through music.“I love radio and I have big plans of grow-

BUTTERWORTH United FC punished their neighboursGreenLovers FCwith five goals to zero during their SABRegional League game.

The match was played in hot weather conditions atMsobomvu Sports ground last Saturday.

After their humiliating defeat to the visitors, GreenLovers coach Golden Nguqu said they played very wellbut their goalkeeper made some mistakes which result-ed in them having to pay the price.

“I really don’t know what went wrong with our goal-keeper today because he used to make great saves andhe is a good goalkeeper.

“But today he conceded three unnecessary goals. Wedid not deserve to lose the game because we created alot of chances but unfortunately we could not manage

to convert those opportunities into goals,” said Nguqu. He added that they started the game with young play-

ers in order to test them and givethem a chance. He urged community members to support soccer and

to come in numbers to the grounds to watch the gamesas this would encourage the young players a lot.

Butterworth united FC boss Mzwamadoda Sinyanyasaid his team maintained their game plan which was4-3-3. They used highly skilled strikers upfront with theaim of scoring goals and they were equal to the task.

“Before the match we told our midfielders to pass theball quickly to the strikers so thatwe could outrunGreenLovers’ defenders and punish them, and they did exactlywhat we told them.”

He said he was happy with a win but was disappointedwith the turnout at the stadium. He said he would liketo see people supporting the games and coming in num-bers to the stadium.
