The accuracy of all measuring devices degrade over time. This is typically caused by normal wear and tear. However, changes in accuracy can also be caused by electric or mechanical shock or a hazardous manufacturing environment. The bottom line is that, calibration improves the accuracy of the measuring device. Accurate measuring devices improve product quality.

Calibration of your measuring instruments has two objectives. It checks the accuracy of the instru-ment and it determines the traceability of the measurement. In practice, calibration also includes repair of the device if it is out of calibration. A report is provided by the calibration expert, which shows the error in measurements with the measuring device before and after the calibration.

The goal of calibration is to minimize any measurement uncertainty by ensuring the accuracy of test equipment. Calibration quantifi es and controls errors or uncertainties within measurement processes to an acceptable level.

ISO 17025

ISO/IEC 17025 is the ISO standard used by calibration laboratories. The accreditation shows proof of a strong commitment to quality and a general understanding of the value and importance that quality plays in the research, development, and manufacturing processes.

This accreditation assures that the calibration laboratory use equipment suitable for the measurements, that all instru-ments are properly maintained and that all methods used in the calibration process are fully validated for proof of profi -ciency.

nok9 is approved by the Swedish Board for Accreditation and Conformity Assessment (SWEDAC) for ISO 17025 since 2016, and is the only company to achieve this accreditation for wireless charging. ISO 17025 verifi es nok9 as meeting the required technical competence to carry out tests and calibrations. Among other factors, the accreditation considers ac-curacy, consistency and reliability of results as well as conformity to recognized world standards, and its scope covers our complete test equipment portfolio.

WIRELESS POWER CONSORTIUM (WPC)

nok9 has been in close cooperation with the WPC since the early development stages for Qi, the world’s most widely accepted wireless charging standard. Today, nok9 produces the only test tools certifi ed by the WPC: CATS I for Baseline Power Profi le (BPP: 0-5W) and CATS II for Extended Power Profi le (EPP: 0 - 15W).
