It’s July and we are in the peak (and the heat!) of the summer season.

It’s hot, that’s true, but as luck would have it, the Florida Keys have such a laid back lifestyle that it just begs for you to throw on a halter top and shorts and run around in your fl ip fl ops.

It’s hot, that’s true, but with water wherever you look and so many ways to get out on it, in it and under it - who notices the heat?

It’s hot, that’s true but it’s cool in the shade. Take some time to yourself in the dog days of summer by stretching out on your favorite hammock and read a good book.

It’s hot, that’s true so go out early or venture out late and take advan-tage of the breeze off the Atlantic. The choices are endless, up for a sun-rise yoga class on the beach? No problem. How about a sunset cruise or a full moon paddle? Even if you just want to sit and watch the sun go down with someone special, the breeze will be well worth the wait.

You have to admit, spending the summer on an island is a pleasure :)

This past month, we kicked off Team Island Jane with the goal of encour-aging each other to reach our fi tness goals and to help out some local women. See our progress by going to the Island Jane Magazine Facebook page and clicking on the Team Island Jane button. We would love to have you join us so go check it out!

I want to take a minute to give Shawna Gauthier a big virtual hug. This month will be her last article for a while since she is putting her ad-venture on hold. We have been following her travels each month as her and her husband sail around the world in their sailboat. You can read the details in her column on page 14. We will miss you Shawna!

In this month’s issue we have plenty of tips and good ideas for you to beat the heat, snorkel, take care of the kids and the pets, and eat good on the boat. Make this season a success by keeping in touch with Island Jane. From the printed issues, to the website to the great group we have on Facebook, stick with us and let’s have some fun!

Have a great summer!
