Chris and I are both from County Offaly and

went to school together. You could almost call

us childhood sweethearts as we dated when we

were just 15 years old, it was very harmless

and we may have went to the cinema once

or twice. We always had great time for each

other and there was always a spark between

us but it took another 10 years before we

finally got together. I went over to New York

on December 2002 for a holiday with a friend

and bumped into Chris in an Irish bar. He was

living over there at the time. We just hit it off

straight away and we kept in constant contact

when I arrived home and after 6 months I

made the big decision to move over to New

York and I never looked back. Three years later

and after the most fantastic time in the States

we decided to move back to Offaly. Then just 2

years ago Chris took me on a surprise weekend

away to London and proposed and of course I

happily accepted.

We always imagined a wedding abroad and

there was no better place than Malta. Malta

was somewhere we both always wanted to go

visit and as soon as we arrived there we had

our mind made up this was the destination.

The first thing we arranged was to find a

wedding planner. Sarah Young came highly

recommended as both a professional and

perfectionist. Lisa, her assistant showed us

around the most stunning venues but as soon

as we saw the Villa B in St Julian’s we knew

this was the venue for us so it was a very easy

decision to make. We decided on the 27th of

May as it was not too hot for our guests on the

wedding day as it would be an outdoor event.

Everything ran very smoothly and stress free

on the run up to the wedding. Sarah always

replied to emails straight away and explained

everything in fine detail with regards to any

paperwork which needed to be done for the

Register and Church.

My mother Lilly and my two fab sisters Susan

and Lorraine who were also my bridesmaids

were a great help throughout and we had a

great time shopping for dresses.

I got my dress

in the White Room in Mullingar and it was by

Jesus Peiro. Chris and his brother Trevor who

was also his best man and his groomsman Sean

hired their suits from Black Tie in Athlone.

The wedding week was filled with excitement,

nerves and a lot of fun. We arrived in Malta

the Tuesday before our wedding which was

on the Friday. 30 guests also arrived out the

same day and the remaining 50 guests arrived

on the Thursday. I didn’t feel the slightest bit

stressed as I knew everything was taken care

of and planned perfectly by Sarah. We went

on a boat trip and different excursions on the

days running up and it was great for all our

guests to mingle and get to know each other.

We had friends also come the whole way from

New York which was fantastic as there was a lot

of catching up to do.

The wedding day was

everything we both imagined

and more. The girls did a

fantastic job on our hair and

my make up which was still

perfect at the end of the night

after a lot of dancing. The

flowers were exactly as I had

asked for down to the tiniest

detail. Lapsi Church was so

pretty and everyone raved

about it. Father Tony brought humor into the

ceremony which put us at ease. He guided us

through the whole thing.

The Villa B was just so beautifully decorated

when we arrived and the views were fantastic.

We had decided on a buffet style dinner with

Beef, Fish and Pork as a main course. It was

very professionally managed and the food was

delicious.

The attention to detail on the day was just

perfect; the flowers, table setting, the staff at

the villa, our guitarist who was fantastic and

our photographer who was such a gentleman.

It was great to have a wedding abroad as it

was also a holiday with family and friends who

actually wanted to be there. Myself and Chris

stayed on in Malta for an extra 10 days and

also visited Sicily which was so relaxing after

a mad week.

Without Sarah Young and her assistant Lisa,

this day would never have been as successful

as it was. People tell you to enjoy your day as

it goes by so quickly which is definitely true and

we most definitely enjoyed every minute.

We would not have changed a thing…………….
