Progress to Date - DART

• DART Infrastructure upgraded for 8-car trains

• 8-car DARTS in service

• Original DART fleet refurbished

• Real Time Passenger Information, Ticket Vending

Machines, Exit Validation

Progress to Date - Commuter

• Railcar Fleet Renewal – 180 now in fleet

• 8-car train capacity on all routes

• Additional services on Maynooth, Northern and Kildare

• New stations opened at Docklands, Phoenix Park, Adamstown, Park West & Cherry Orchard and Clondalkin Fonthill

• Stations opening in 2010 at Clongriffin, Kishogue, Hansfield, Dunboyne and M3 Parkway

• Completed and operational on 12th March 2007

• Ahead of schedule, under budget

• Provides additional city terminal capacity

• Integration with bus and future LUAS

Kildare Route Project

• Expansion of 4-track railway from Park West & Cherry

Orchard to Hazelhatch

• New stations at Park West & Cherry Orchard,

Clondalkin Fonthill, Kishogue, Adamstown and

Hazelhatch

• Facilitates western end of DART Underground route

when electrified

City Centre Resignalling

• Plan to increase the capacity of the central area and

increase capacity on the Northern and Maynooth lines

• Eliminate or automate level crossings on Maynooth

line

• Completion planned for 2012 with minimal disruption

to customers

Clonsilla to Dunboyne/M3 Parkway

• 7.5 km line being reconstructed

• 3 new stations at Hansfield, Dunboyne and M3

Parkway

• M3 Parkway ‘park and ride’ car park with 1,200

parking spaces

• Construction works in progress on site

• Completion planned for September 2010

• Feasibility study now complete on two route options

for extension of line from Dunboyne/M3 Parkway to

Navan

• 30 km route

• Stations at Dunshaughlin, Kilmessin, Navan Central

Ticketing

• Automatic ticket vending machines at all commuter

and principal InterCity stations

• Automatic exit/entry validation gates at Dublin city

centre stations

• Interim Rail Smartcard currently being tested for

introduction in January 2010

• Iarnród Éireann to join Integrated Ticketing System for

Dublin in 2011
