Invitation to 1st International Conference on Social Impact Assessment (SIA)

- Practice and Recent Developments in Malaysia

In the light of recent developments and institutional changes in Malaysia requiring Social Impact

Assessment (SIA), the Malaysian Association of Social Impact Assessment (MSIA) is taking

initiatives to strengthen the practice of SIA. MSIA is committed to communicate information to

support those interested in SIA practice, share methodologies and SIA updates, complementing

other concerns related to sustainable development and the wellbeing of communities. The

amendments to the Town and Country Planning Act, Act 172, which strengthens the role of SIA

shall also be highlighted in this Conference.

2. As such, we are pleased to announce that MSIA is organizing the abovementioned Social

Impact Assessment Conference on:-

3. It is hoped that this SIA Conference will become a meeting point bringing sustainable

developments professionals together as well as strengthening impact assessment practices

including SIA, of which interests and opportunities are rapidly growing in Malaysia.
