Our Story

After a hugely successful launch in 2019, the Solar Show MENA, co-located with the Wind Show MENA, the region’s leading conference and exhibition for renewable energy, will return in 2020. Bigger, and better, than before.

The outlook for renewable energy in MENA remains incredibly positive. By 2030, over 145 gigawatts of renewable energy is expected to have been implemented in the MENA region.

In 2018 alone, the construction of solar projects in the region grew by over 50 per cent, and currently there are 12 GW of solar projects that are under construction (or awarded) in the MENA region.

Based on current growth rates, solar energy in the MENA region will be worth $100bn in the next 10 years. Within six years, the sunny MENA region will have as much solar power as the US has today, and more than Germany. By 2030, it will be approaching China’s current level.

Investment in renewable energy projects within the MENA region continues to grow, with thanks to the clean energy targets of each country and the dramatic fall in the cost of solar energy.

As the appetite for solar energy increases, this is where The Solar Show MENA comes in.

Held in Cairo, Egypt, and bringing together 3000 attendees, including policymakers, utilities, financers, investors, local industry heavyweights and international technology experts, there is no better place to connect with the MENA renewable industry.

The exhibition is a showcase of the world’s ‘best-in-class’ solution providers in the renewable space. The Solar Show is co-located with the Wind Show MENA and The Electric Vehicles Show MENA, guaranteeing the whole renewable industry has chance to interact over two days.

Get involved with the Solar Show MENA and make it your most productive business and networking opportunity of the year.

“This is the first and only event I’ve been to that truly brings the whole MENA renewable industry together.”Engr. Rachedi Menadi | Director of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy | Ministry of Energy, Algeria

Middle East and North African countries, blessed with masses of open space, are increasingly adopting wind power. As a result, the region’s wind market is witnessing unprecedented developments as competitive tenders drive down costs and attract international investment.

With a range of considerable wind projects being announced or underway in MENA, including Egypt’s plan to develop the region’s largest generation farm in the Suez Bay, as well as an ongoing push in Morocco and Oman’s recent resolution to join the mix, the combined MENA region is projected to triple in capacity additions in the next ten years. An estimated 40GW is expected to be added to the region over the ten-year forecast period.

Whether you’re looking to bring your turbine technology to the MENA region, understand the regional opportunity around wind energy projects, meet potential partners or showcase your solutions to a thousand attendees, this is the show for you.

CleanTech Start-Up Zone CleanTech Pitch-Off

Start-ups in the CleanTech space are thriving. Whether their solution is based on renewable energy, distributed grid storage systems or battery technology, CleanTech start-ups are working to minimise the negative effects energy production has on the environment.

Clean technology is defined as any process, product, or service that reduces negative environmental impacts through significant energy efficiency improvements, the sustainable use of resources, or environmental protection activities.

According to the Global Trends in Renewable Energy Investment 2018 report released by UN Environment, global investment in renewables surpassed $200 billion in 2017, while $2.9 trillion has been invested in sources like solar and wind power since 2004.

Shifts in energy market trends, investment patterns and the global mindset toward climate change are creating new rationales for investments in companies and projects in the clean energy space.

In the CleanTech Zone at the Solar & Wind Show MENA, there will be a showcase of the region’s most innovative start-ups that are revolutionising the energy industry.

Join us for the first ever CleanTech Pitch Off at the Solar Show MENA.

HOW IT WORKS?Five of the region’s most innovative start-ups, will take the stage to pitch their solution, in front of an esteemed panel of judges.

Make sure not to miss these five start-ups showcase in five minute pitches, why they are worthy of the cash prize.

WHAT'S THE CRITERIA?If you are a start-up of 2 years or younger and have secured less than $1million in funding, you are eligible to enter the pitch-off.

HOW TO ENTER?Fill in the application form at http://www.terrapinn.com/solarshow-pitch-off to enter. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
