which lasted until the death of Julius Caesar.• The Romans were very proud of their

democratic system and were repulsed by the thought of being ruled by a king.

• However, many people feared the possibility of one ruler. Therefore, a plan is hatched to take Caesar out.

– Caesar was well known by Elizabethans.• Led Roman ships to Britain in 55 B.C., which paved the way for

Roman occupation of Britain

– When he became dictator, he was arguably the most powerful ruler the world had ever known.

– He died in spectacular fashion.
