PROJECT: MSD LOCATION: Oss, Netherlands VALUE: €5,000,000
Project Description
At the MSD site in Oss, Dornan Engineering have be awarded the contract for the Project
Implannon NXT and re-location Nuvaring activities”.
The scope of which includes the design, construction, supply and Installation of HVAC
and Black Utilities, Compressed air and Sprinkler System.
At the MSD site in Oss, The Netherlands, several contraceptive products are manufactured in the CO building. Two of those products are Implanon NXT and NuvaRing. It is expected that the demand for the Implanon NXT product will increase substantially in the next years. As a result a project has been initiated to increase the Implanon NXT production capacity in the existing SPD-1 wing of the CO-building. Since currently the SPD-1 wing houses among other things some of the process steps to manufacture the NuvaRing product these process activities need to be relocated to another location within the CO building.
Additionally the SPD 1 wing accommodates milling equipment for the Solids department which also needs to be relocated within the building. The engineering design for the Implanon Suite is performed by Jacobs Engineering (Cork office). The conceptual engineering design for the Nuvaring Suite is performed by Tebodin Netherlands, and the detailed design is performed by Dornan Engineering. The construction scope of the contract includes both new install and re-location of existing services. In an environment which has seen several owners, Dornan Engineering have surveyed and fingerprinted existing services, re-producing P&IDs for the new phases of work and identifying dependencies and implications to the larger MSD plant.
The project is characterized as time driven.
PROJECT: ABBOTT BIOLOGICALS LOCATION: WEESP, NETHERLANDS VALUE: €5,500,000
Project Description Greenfield biogicals plant upgrade and Plant Expansion involving new production and laboratory facilities.
Scope of Works
Dornan’s scope covers the complete HVAC, Utility Piping and Electrical Services on this fast track project. Our scope covers detailed engineering, clash checking and procurement for all three disciplines. The contract was awarded to Dornan in March 2012 with completion scheduled for September 2012. Dornan’s ability to deliver and coordinate all three packages of work was a key factor in our selection as well as our previous working experience with Abbott.
M+W Group is responsible for overall Engineering, Procurement and Project Management.

Project Controls
At Dornan Engineering we take great pride in delivering quality projects on time and within budget. In order for us to achieve this goal we have developed our own in house tracking systems that closely monitor our key performance indicators in relation to safety, quality, efficiency, value and production. These are some of our key tracking tools.
Programme Our programme will have the required level of detail that will facilitate our engineers to schedule and sequence all activities in a logical manner to allow for the smooth construction and handover of the project. Our programme will: • Identify Critical Path • Be clear and concise • Identify design stages, approval stages, procurement and delivery:
• Equipment Selection • Equipment Approval • Procurement • FAT’s • Delivery
• Identify key milestones: • Building Ready • Installation mechanically complete • Power On • System Test • Integrated Test
“We co-ordinate our programme to take account of all trades so we minimise disruption and allow adequate access. This in turn minimises congestion and improves productivity and reduces the risk of accidents occurring.” Paul Morley Project Manager
