    *In 1908 Mayor Martin Behrman from New Orleans, Louisiana USA and Mayor James Henry Ashdown of Winnipeg, Manitoba CA traveled along the Jefferson Highway from New Orleans to Winnipeg and coined the corridor the Palms to Pines. (Map 1) In 1958 the Winnipeg delegation reciprocated with a major stop in Shreveport, Louisiana where the local governments honored Mayor Juba of Winnipeg and Mayor Morrison of New Orleans with a dinner.     Congress designated the corridor as High Priority Corridor I in ISTEA*Commerce Again LATTS and NAFTA are at play along with all the ports in LouisianaHurricane evacuation provide additional outlet for south LouisianaNation Defense/Homeland Security in connecting 13 DOD Installations including BAFB National Security Strategic Petroleum Reserves and oil and gas production*Intersect 6 east west interstates early interstate development concentrated on east west movements now north south movements need addressed as seen by increase in trade with NAFTA and south and central America
