Art is in the Air...Notice a theme? Art is everywhere at the Festival! And that’s no accident — we are a proud member of the Plano Arts Coalition (PAC) and the Historic Downtown Plano Association. You’ll see many PAC members in the park today — Plano Children’s Theater, ArtCentre of Plano, Plano Art Association, and the Plano Symphony Orchestra — all bringing an artistic flair to the air!
Building a Stronger CommunityThe Plano International Festival was conceived by the Plano City Council’s Multicultural Outreach Roundtable, MCOR, a group of Plano residents whose mission is to act as a bridge between Plano’s diverse citizens and the city government. MCOR advocates for the needs of Plano’s many diverse citizens and sponsors programs throughout the year that serve to strengthen the community, such as National Day of Prayer, Community Forums, Friendship Circles,
Citizenship Workshops, and many others. MCOR is a volunteer committee open to all city residents and meets at 7pm on the second Tuesday of every month in the Plano Mu-nicipal Center. All are welcome to attend. More info at www.plano.gov.
Giving BackFor the second year, we are collecting used eyeglasses for the Lions Club’s Recycle for Sight program, which distributes the glasses in developing countries where glasses are not readily available or affordable. And the Lions Club District 2-X1 is providing free SPOT eye exams for kids 6 months to 6 years in the Fitness and & Wellness Fair, benefiting kids right here in Plano!
Art – The Universal LanguageThe Plano Art Association is showcasing original works of their
members in the Gallery@Courtyard, the lobby of the Courtyard Theater, today through October 23.
