Our Bariatric Surgery team works together with Dr C Rajkumar Vinayak, General and Bariatric Surgeon who has performed bariatric surgeries in Northern Malaysia since 2007. The team provides a wide range of bariatric surgeries including SILS sleeve gastrectomies and revisional procedures and had pioneered stapleless bariartric surgery in Malaysia. In 2017, our Bariatric Surgeon became the 1st Surgeon from Malaysia and ASEAN region to be designated as Surgeon of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery by Surgical Review Corporation (SOEMBS) SRC, USA.

Shashank Shah is an Indian laparoscopic bariatric surgeon. He is president ofAIAARO (All India Association for Advancing Research in Obesity), OSSI (ObesitySurgery Society Of India) and IEF (International Excellence Federation, IndiaChapter). He received the American Diabetes Association's Vivian Fonseca ScholarAward, in June 2016 during the Association's 76th Scientific Sessions. Shahreceived the Award for his research, "Gastric Bypass vs. Medical/Lifestyle Care forType 2 Diabetes in South Asians with BMI 25-40 kg/m²—The COSMID RandomizedTrial," (261-OR). The research has contributed a newer modality of treatmentoption for many unfortunate patients with uncontrollable diabetes.

Suthep Udomsawaengsup is an associate professor of surgery at the departmentof surgery, faculty of medicine, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. He is currentlythe director of Chulalongkorn Minimally Invasive Surgery, fellowship trainingprogram and director of Chulalongkorn Bariatric and Metabolic Institute (ChulaBMI). He is a president of the Thai Hernia Society (THS) and He also serves as atreasurer of the Asia Pacific Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Society (APMBSS). Hewas graduated clinical fellow in advanced laparoscopic and Bariatric surgery andflexible surgical fellow from the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio, USA.

Lilian Kow is a senior consultant surgeon at Flinders Medical Centre and ClinicalAssociate Professor at Flinders University of South Australia. She has been involvedin training surgeons in bariatric surgery nationally and internationally. She is a co-founder/Director of the Adelaide Bariatric Centre, which was established in 1995as the first obesity surgical clinic in Adelaide. She is the President-Elect andTreasurer/Secretary of IFSO, the Immediate Past President of the IFSO-APC, andpast president of the Obesity Surgical Society of Australia and New ZealandOSSANZ (ANZMOSS). She also runs the Education Portfolio as the Executivemember for Australian Chinese Medical Association (SA).

Simon Wong is the President of Asia-Pacific Metabolic & Bariatric Surgical Society(APMBSS). He is also the Chairman of the Hong Kong Society of Metabolic &Bariatric Surgery (HKSMBS), Treasurer of the Hong Kong Association of Study ofObesity (HKASO). He represents Hong Kong at the International Federation ofSurgery of Obesity (IFSO) and its Asia-Pacific Chapter. Since 2008, Dr. Wong hasbeen the Consultant Surgeon in Upper Gastrointestinal & Metabolic Surgery Unit ofPrince of Wales Hospital, and appointed as the Honorary ClinicalAssociate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Chinese University of HongKong (CUHK). In 2018, he is appointed as Cluster Team Head of Upper GI Surgerydivision of New Territories East Cluster and the Deputy Chief of Service ofDepartment of Surgery, Prince of Wales Hospital.


Asim Shabbir is a Senior Consultant with the Division of General Surgery (UpperGastrointestinal Surgery) at the National University Hospital,Singapore. His specialty is general surgery and his special interests are uppergastrointestinal surgery, bariatric & metabolic surgery, advance endoscopy andlaparoscopic surgery. His research interest includes obesity, surgery for type 2diabetes and gastric cancer. He won the Best free paper award for his presentation"Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass for the Treatment of Type II DiabetesMellitus in Chinese Patients with Body 25-35kg/m2at Asia Pacific metabolicbariatric surgical society meeting 2010.

Davide Lomanto is a Director of the Minimal Invasive Surgical Centre (MISC) at theNational University Hospital (NUH) and of the Tan Sri Khoo Teck Puat AdvancedSurgery Training Centre (ASTC) at National University of Singapore. He is a SeniorTeaching Fellow at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS since 2003 and SeniorConsultant Surgeon in Paediatric Surgery at NUH. He has a special interest inMinimally Invasive Surgery, laparoscopic digestive surgery including Robotic andObesity Surgery and Abdominal Wall Hernia Repair. He is a Fellow of InternationalSurgical Societies like SAGES, EAES, GREPA-EHS, ELSA. He is Founding Member andSecretary of the Asia Pacific Hernia Society (APHS) and founding member of theAsia-Pacific Bariatric Surgery Society.

Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi graduated from Shiga University of Medical Science, Shiga,Japan 1997. He is a Senior assistant professor, Dept of surgery, Shiga University ofMedical Science, Shiga. He also a Councilor of the Japanese Society for Treatment ofObesity, a member of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity andMetabolic Disorders (IFSO), Japan Surgical Society, Japanese Societyof Gastroenteological Surgery and Japan Society for Endoscopic Surgery.

Pornthep Pungrasmi is a Assistant Professor, Department of Plastic andReconstructive Surgery Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand. He isone of Thailand’s most in demand and well known Plastic and ReconstructiveSurgeons. He has operated on over 1,000 happy CosMediTour clients and is bestknown for his breast and body surgery. He is one of the world’s top PlasticSurgeons for breast augmentation, revision, lifts and reductions.
