Low Cost, High Bandwidth, Reliability and ScalabilityEthernet is the answer (no one in the Industry disagrees)

• Ethernet delivers• High bandwidth• Scalability• Ideal for IP traffic. Native LAN “Language”• Low Cost, Low OpEx• It’s simple and easy….

• Ethernet has dominated in the LAN for over 30 years for data (and now for voice)

• It’s ubiquitous worldwide• It’s low cost, simple and ideal for IP traffic• Nothing comes next – Ethernet is the end solution

You Need A Higher Bandwidth Ethernet Service. Can you get it?

You Need A Higher Bandwidth Ethernet Service. Can you get it?

Since your first T1 service, needs have changed.....

• Email is mission-critical with huge file sizes• Hosting Web Content

• Higher Symmetrical (UP and DOWN) Bandwidth Needed to “Push” Content to Customers

• Remote VPN Users• Citrix Applications• “Convergence” moves from trade magazine visions to

reality

Increasing Bandwidth Needs

• Fiber-Delivered Service was the only real option

• 85% of businesses do not have access to fiber

Product Definition:Ethernet Solutions is an on-net internet access service that delivers 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 Mbps of dedicated, symmetrical, full-duplex internet access.

Service is delivered to the customer via an RJ45 electrical Ethernet handoff from Integra’s Ethernet switch to the customer’s router. Optionally, the customer may lease a router from Integra. One static IP address is included. Other options include larger blocks of IP addresses, email and web hosting services.

Service is delivered by combining up to 8 pairs of phone-grade lines from the Central Office to the customer premises. Service levels that Integra can deliver are dependent upon the distance, wire gauge, and pairs available.

The graph below shows an example of the service available. Customer-specific levels are determined via Integra’s loop qualification process.

Today:• LAN Managers are forced to convert DS1 & DS3 Internet Access to Ethernet• “Circuit to Packet” conversions require expensive Serial Routers and attention to

manage.

With Ethernet Solutions:• We will speak the customer’s “language” – Ethernet• Serial Routers can be replaced with LAN Routers – 10% of the cost

Customer Value: Overhead Benefits

• T-1 Service• 10 -20% of Bandwidth is “Overheads”• No ability to scale in other than full T-1

increments

• Ethernet Service• Up to 10% Overheads• Scalable & not tied to fixed bandwidth

increments

• Integra’s Ethernet Solutions:• Over-Provisioned by 10% • Pay for 10Mb, Get 10Mb• Up AND Down

Ethernet Solutions Advantages:Native Ethernet Handoff

• Handoff to Customer in LAN protocol• No “Packet to Circuit” conversion• No interface / WIC card to buy of manage

More Bandwidth• n x T1 capped at 12 Mb (8 x T1), requiring 16 pairs• Ethernet Solutions can deliver up to 30 Mbps over less pairs.

More Robust:• Pairs can be dropped without loss of service. If T1 or NxT1 loses a single

pair, service is lost.• Integra will provision customer’s pairs across multiple CO aggregation

boxes

Ethernet Solutions vs. T1

Page 19: Integra Telecom's Ethernet Solutions Presentation

2

Ethernet Solutions Advantages:Symmetrical Bandwidth

• Better fit for content “pushers”:• Hosting Content • Remote Users• Web Application Users

Dedicated Bandwidth• Not “up to..”• UP and DOWN

More Robust:• Pairs can be dropped without loss of service. If DSL loses only pair,

service is lost.• Integra will provision customer’s pairs across multiple CO aggregation

boxes

Ethernet Solutions vs. DSL & Cable

Page 20: Integra Telecom's Ethernet Solutions Presentation

Value• Significant Savings vs. n x T1• No High MRC Threshold for Fiber Build

Supportable• Ethernet Handoff, No Conversion from TDM• Flexible to increase bandwidth

Reliable• Diversity via Pair Bonding• Diversity via CO Aggregation Device Assignments• Bandwidth Availability via Integra 2 x GigE Uplink Design

Increased Application Performance• No more 100Mbps in LAN reduced to 1.5Mbps to the internet• Improved performance of hosted applications• Improved performance for remote access users
