Trumpet Packet

There are two components to the trumpet audition which are required of all players: • Scales: Be prepared to perform any of the major scales. • Sight-reading: A short excerpt will be provided at the audition.

The Wind Ensemble/Concert Band portion of the audition includes both of the following excerpts, which are located on pages 2-3 of this packet:

• Etudes: o Theo Charlier: Etude No. 6 (mm. 1-35) o Wilhelm Wurm: Etude No. 23 (all)

The Cardinal Jazz Orchestra portion of the audition includes the following excerpt, which is on page 4.

• Henry Mancini: The Days of Wine and Roses (mm. 1-33)

(Note: Lamar University uses a single audition for admission and placement into all concert ensembles and encourages trumpet performers to aspire towards being a part of the Wind Ensemble/Concert Band as well as the Cardinal Jazz Orchestra. However, the decision is at the discretion of each individual performer. Simply let the adjudicators know, during the scheduled audition time, as to which ensemble(s) for which you are auditioning.)
