SimulatethemodelWhenselecting"SimulatetheModel"awindowopenswhereallimplementedpolicyinstrumentsareshown.</p><p>ThepolicyinstrumentsarecasestudydependentinFigure5theintheLeedscasestudyavailablepolicyinstrumentsareshownintotalthereare19differentpolicyinstruments.</p><p>TherearedifferentpoliciesforeachmodeimplementedwithintheMARSmodelandcanbesimulatedusingtheMARSFSThefollowinglistwillgiveyouanIdeawhatispossibletotestwithinMARS(attentionthelistisnotcomprehensiveandiscasestudydepending):</p><p>SlowModes</p><p>Ifyouthinkofimplementingpedestrianzonesorbicyclelanes;youcaninputhowmuchofthezonewillbepedestrianized.Thiswillalsolengthenthedistancetoorfromtheparkingplace.</p><p>PublicTransport</p><p>Decreaseorincreasebusspeeds,busfaresorthebusfrequency.</p></li><li><p>7</p><p>Car</p><p>Chargecarsandmotorcyclesiftheyenterthecordon,changetaxesandcostsofacarpurchase,offercarsmoreorlessinfrastructure,whichhasinfluenceonthespeed,changethefeesforcarparkingandchangethepricesforfuel.</p><p>Assoonasthedesiredpolicyleversareset,thesimulationofthemodelcanbeinvokedbypressingtheSIMULATEbutton.</p><p>Figure5:MARSFSpolicysetupscreen</p><p>Thestructuretoinputapolicyinstrumentisalwaysthesameasshownhereforthepolicyinstrument"TeleWork"(leftcolumn).</p><p>Ausercandefinethestartvalue(=percentagechange)oftheshareofteleworkersforastartyearbydraggingtheslidertothedesiredvalueorbykeyinginanumericvalueintheboxbelowtheslidertool.Additionalanusercandefineastartyearinwhichthepolicyinstrumentstarttoworkbykeyinginavalueintheboxontherighthandsideoftheslidertool.</p><p>Thesamecanbedoneforanendyearinwhichthepolicyinstrumentsstaysconstantfortherestofthesimulationtime.</p></li><li><p>8</p><p>Figure6:MARSFSpolicyinputslidertool</p><p>Atypicalpolicyprofilelookslike</p><p>Figure7:MARSFSpolicyprofileview</p><p>Thisgraphiccanbeobtainedbyclickingonthe"PolicyGraph"Button.Itshowstheteleworkingpolicyprofilewheretillyear5theshareofteleworkersis0,inyearfivethesharegoesupto10%andincreasestilltheendyear20to60%andstaysthenconstantfortherestofthesimulation.</p><p>Theusercandefineanycombinationofpolicyinstruments.Afterfinishingthisprocesstheuserhastoclickonthe"SIMULATE"buttonandthesimulationstarts.Inthecasetherunalreadyexists,theuserwillbeaskedeithertooverwritetheexistingrunortocreateanewone.Theusershouldnametheruninthatwaythathelatercanrememberwhichpolicycombinationhehastested.Importantisherethattheusershouldnotoverridethe"DoNothing"runsincethisrunisusedtocomparethenewcreatedrunwiththeDoNothingscenario.</p></li><li><p>9</p><p>Thedurationofthesimulationdependsonthecomputersystemandwillbesomewherearound45seconds.AfterthesimulationisfinishedadialogwindowpopsupandaskstheuserifhewantstocreateanAniMapoutputfile.Byclickingthe"yes"buttonoraftersomesecondstheAniMapinputfilewillbecreatedandstoredintherightsubdirectory(..\AniMapMARS\Leeds\anidata\runname.js).</p><p>Afterthesimulationisfinishedtheusercannavigatethroughthedifferentoutputwindowstoexplorethebehaviorofthemodelovertimeregardingthetestedpolicycombination.Severaloutputwindowsareavailable,wherethedevelopmentofdifferentindicatorsovertimeisshown.Allthesegraphsortablescanbecopiedintotheclipboardbyclickingthe"ExporttoClipboard"buttonandcansoimportedinanyotherapplication(suchasWord,Excel,etc).</p><p>Sinceitisnotpossibletopreparepredefinedgraphsforallmodelvariablesaspecialtoolis</p><p>implementedwithintheMARSFSsoftware.Thistoolallowstheusertoselectanyvariableused</p><p>withinthemodelandtodisplaythedevelopmentofthesevariablesovertime,eitherasagraphoras</p><p>atable.Thisfeaturealsoenablestheusertodisplayandexportinformationforacertainrangeof</p><p>zones,forspecificmodes,orforspecifictrippurposes,etc.</p><p>Figure8:MARSFSIndividualoutputscreentool</p></li><li><p>10</p><p>Bypressingthebutton"ReturntoMainMenu"anewsimulationcanbesetup.</p><p>4
