IKEA LAUNCH
IKEA Perth store commenced trade in February 2008. The property comprises of a combined showroom and warehouse including a 400-seat family restaurant and child-care facilities.
It is the largest single tenant retail store in Western Australia with floor space of approximately 26,500 sqm. It is similar in size to the recently LPML-developed IKEA Adelaide store.
Dimensions and design of the IKEA store are in accordance with IKEA’s worldwide store development standards.
The Expo Group were contracted to produce the majority of the internal signage that included
restaurant signage Digital wallpapers large banners and ticket signage throughout the store.
12 months ago this would have been a logistical nightmare with only 4 weeks to turnaround a
massive task such as the fit-out of signage elements of over 1,000 square metres to this
massive complex.
The important factors of this contract were the interpretation of colours that needed to be
matched from the corporate logo to the consistency of image reproductions. A major
contributor to the project success was Keith Loney who tirelessly was the link between the
Ikea Creative and design team and the Expo Graphics production team.
This project was completed on time and on budget and has laid the foundation for Expo to
develop a logistics profile when completing large scale production installations.
