Barnard, its first chairman. Other charter members present were Frank Wade, head of the chemistry de- partment, Shortridge High School, In- dianapolis ; Harry Jordan, secretary, American Water Works Association, New York; and Frederick C. Atkinson, con- sultant, Indianapolis. Alden H. Emery, secretary of the AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY, was present, and the principal speaker on the programmât which Chair- man Elmer H. Stuart, of Eli Lilly Co., presided, was John R. Churchill, of the Aluminum Co. of America. Speaking on "Spectrograph^ Analysis", Dr. Churchill described modern equipment for this work and reported how it enabled the Aluminum Co. to expand its facilities during the war when it built and equipped 35 new spectrograph^ laboratories over a period of two and one-half years.
