FOREWORD( First Revision ) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after theStructural Sections Sectional Committee had been approved by the CivilEngineering Division Council.

This Indian Standarddraft finalized by theBulb angles are generally used in ship building and car-building industries. In the preparationof this standard the Sectional Committee specially kept in view the requirements of theseindustries. This standard was first published in 1958. In this revision apart from general updating, thedesignation of bulb angles has been modified. For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final vaIue, observed or calculated, expressing the results of a test or analysis, shall be roundedoff in accordance with IS 2 : 1960 Rules for rounding off numerical values ( revised). Thenumber of significant places retained in the rounded off vaIue should be the same as that of thespecified value in this standard.
