Lincoln Diesels operate a worldwide overhaul and reconditioning service. With skilled and experienced service engineers available to travel at short notice, your engine down time and power loss is kept to a minimum.

Refurbishing major engine components can achieve worthwhile returns in extending the working lifespan and increasing operating efficiency and profitability. The reconditioning process at Lincoln Diesels takes place in well-equipped workshop facilities - each item undergoes stringent inspection, is carefully tracked and tested. A fully detailed overhaul report is supplied with each order.

Complete customer support is provided through a dedicatedteam of professional engineers able to respond immediately to both routine and emergency requirements. This covers all types and sizes of diesel engines in marine, industrial and rail traction applications.

We ensure a rigid compliance with health and safety guidance and exercise a general duty of care with regard to our environment.

Reconditioning at Lincoln Diesels includes:

• valve seat grinding using the Chris Marine system

Typical work flow of cylinder head overhaul

Old units are received in our workshops. Their receipt is recorded and the castings marked and documented for reporting / traceability purposes.

Any valves and stud work are removed and the casting inspected for damage using crack detection and pressure testing techniques.Valve guides and worn valve seats are removed and the bare head is thoroughly de-carbonised and cleaned.

Valve seat locating pockets are inspected and reworked asnecessary, the flame and gasket faces are re-skimmed as required and the replacement seats are cut back to original specifications using the Chris Marine equipment.

With guides fitted, the valves are ‘lapped’ into their respective seats for individual fit and the head is assembled. A hydraulic pressure test and final inspection is conducted before the head is painted / preserved and packed to customer specific requirements.

Re-classification is available on request but all repairs are covered by our own internal report which identifies the work carried out and provides full traceability of your units.

Replacement filters

We are the distributor for Mann + Hummel and Vokes who

between them manufacture a very wide range of filters in

accordance with engine makers’ specifications. These filters

are suitable for both high and medium speed industrial engines

and are available ex stock from our warehouses in Wherwell and

Lincoln.

Boll & Kirch filter equipment

We supply genuine Boll & Kirch filter equipment, components

and replacement elements. Full servicing and technical support

for Boll & Kirch automatic flushing units is also provided.

Ultrasonic filter cleaning equipment and fluid

Available in tank sizes from 550 x 300 x 470 mm to 1150 x 550 x 620 mm together with special cleaning tools and nozzles.

Our cleaning fluid is not declarable as a dangerous chemical for transport purposes.

This makes transport much easier to organise and allows considerable savings to be achieved.

This cleaning fluid can be used in many different types of cleaning tank.

Mann + Hummel lube oil centrifuges

The advantages of these centrifuges are clear and measurable.

• easily retrofitted and maintained

• approved by most engine builders

• by removing the impurities from the oil the rate at which the TBN changes is reduced. The result is that lube oil changes can be halved often giving a payback for engines running continuously of less than one year

• additional savings result from the removal of those smaller particles (less than 10µm) which pass through the normal filtration systems. The life of bearings, crankshafts, cylinder liners and piston rings is significantly extended.

In 1903 WH Dorman produced their first internal combustion engine with the last Dorman branded engine being produced in 1995. The Dorman Diesels business was acquired by Lincoln Diesels in 2010, since which time a major investment has been made in expanding the stock of new and reconditioned components in order to support the many Dorman engines remaining in service and still operating very effectively. Parts are regularly supplied on a world wide basis. All engines are supported, even those manufactured over 50 years ago.

We have records of every Dorman engine ever built, and can quickly identify any special changes or modifications that may have been undertaken to suit an engine for a particular application. If required, we can arrange for the special manufacture of unusual components.

GENUINE DORMAN PARTS AND REPLACEMENT ENGINES

Many Dorman Diesel owners have entered into service contracts with us - setting up a maintenance programme specifically tailored to the operating requirements of their particular engines. During each maintenance visit, the engine is inspected, fully adjusted and checked, with the oil and fuel filter elements being replaced at the required service intervals.

On completion, customers receive a detailed report itemising any components displaying wear or damage. Details of any faults, the price of recommended replacement parts and additional service work required are are also provided.

Service exchange componentsWhere it is critical that an engine should not be out of service for any significant length of time, our exchange schemes enable customers to keep downtime to the absolute minimum.

Components covered under these schemes include cylinder heads, pumps, injectors, alternators and turbochargers.

Full factory rebuilds and short blocks We undertake full factory rebuild programmes on customers’ existing engines. Alternatively we can supply short blocks or complete factory rebuilt engines.
