GWENDOLYN BROOKS was the first African American to receive a Pulitzer prize for poetry.
She was a highly regarded, much honored poet, with the distinction of being the first black author to win the Pulitzer prize. She also was poetry consultant to the library of congress-the first black woman to hold that position-and poet laureate of the state of Illinois.
She wrote hundreds of poems during her lifetime.
summery
This story is about home that a family lived it for fourteen years and explain about how they try to get their shelter. It’s a tragic story of a family losing their house.
They maybe lose their house ,because of lack of money.
Mama , Maud Marta and Helen sat in their rocking chairs and was looking around of their home and this pretties might soon be theirs no longer.
Their father was to have gone to the 0ffice of the home owner’s loan for getting another extension .Mother and daughters were unhappy, but they try to convince with speak about new place for make less anxiety.
Mama tried to give hope to her girls and said to them :’’We will be moving into a nice flat somewhere on South park , or Michigan ‘’.or she said :’’I’ve been getting tireder and tireder of doing
firing .’’
Other homes are prettier than this old house ,’’said Helen’’ .I have friends I’d just as soon not bring here.
But all of them were anxious and hopeless and didn’t want to leave their home. After some hours , Helen from over the fence , saw papa coming ‘’There’s papa’’ said she. But none of them couldn’t tell what had happened from the way papa was walking ,it was some always.
When their father coming back at home and he succeeded to get their house. They were very happy and feeling comfort of their mind .
Helen decided to give a party for showing her friends that they’re homeowners.

Them is about losing their shelter, much of it consist the conversation of Maud Martha and her family.
This story can also be compared with the modern time economic situation.
This story is about family’s struggle to regain their old home.

The climax of the story is when the mother came and said that the father could get another extension, and they can save their house.
Irony:
The birds on South park were mechanical birds
When Maud Marta said to her mother :that’s what you always say-that god knows best”

Moral point:
When faced with problems , don’t despair quickly and overcome our problems with have hope in God.
Conclusion:
Papa came from the office of the home owners’ loan and said to mama that he could get another extension and mama said it to the girls that they are homeowner’s and Helen decided to give a party to showing her friends that they’re homeowners.
