The Johnson County 4-H Horse Quiz Bowl Team came home as the San Antonio Stock Show Champion Team! After out scoring 20 other teams from across the state, team members (L-R) Trey Hardin, Ainslea Price, Todd Hardin and Samuel Manning, each won a $5000 scholarship! The team is coached by Robin Hardin. Way to go team!
The Johnson County 4-H Meats Judging Team won Champion Overall Team at the San Antonio Stock Show! Individually, Anna Carlock placed 4th, Tucker Tilton placed 5th, Travis Tilton placed 7th and Lindsey Jones placed 10th. The team is coached by Leslie Woolley. Congrats on a great day judging!

Camps, Contest & Workshops
The 4-H Photography Contest is just around the corner! Winners in each division will advance to the District Contest and senior winners in the district contest will advance to state. Best of Show Awards will be presented to one photo in each
division at the State Contest and will receive a $250.00 cash prize!
The theme for the 2016 Theme category is “4-H Ribbons, Awards & Recognition.” This year the theme will focus on still life arrangements of 4-H awards, ribbons, recognition. There are many other categories, so be sure to go to http://agrilife.org/d84h/events-and-activities/photography-contest/ to see all the guidelines. Entries must be emailed to Kristen Clark at: [email protected] no later than March 30 for preliminary judging. You will be notified if your photos advance to the district and contest and those entries will be completed by the Extension office. Call the Extension office if you have questions. Good luck!

For 2016 the Texas 4-H Horse Validation will be handled
again through 4-H Connect and will involve uploading
photos of the horse you are validating.
Horses not validated on or before May 1 are ineligible for
District and State 4-H Horse Shows.
Items to note:
Validation Dates – March 1st – May 1st
March 1st - April 15th - Cost will be $10 per horse.
April 16th – May 1st – Cost will be $20 per horse.
Validation and payment is required of ALL horses to
be shown, regardless if they were entered this year or
last.

Looking for part time employment? The JCLAA is looking for a prty-time administrative assistant to provide administrative sup-port to the JCLAA Board as described in the principal duties and responsibilities below:
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lead as well as follow and execute instructions effectively
Must be highly organized, self-motivated and be a team player able to work independently.
Ability to keep accurate files and records.
Must be computer literate and be able to make and receive phone calls.
Must have excellent interpersonal, listening, written and verbal communication skills.
Must demonstrate excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage sensitive situations.
Must be able to effectively prioritize, organize, use time management skills and be adept at multi-tasking.
Must be able to project budget needs, operate within budget parameters, and follow organization’s fiscal accountability controls.
Must be able to work with Ag Teachers, Extension Agents, Parents, & Volunteers. Job Specifications:
Using a variety of software packages: ShoWorks, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, QuickBooks, etc., to pro-duce correspondence, documents, and to maintain records, spreadsheets and databases.
Cannot be a director of the Johnson County Livestock Agricultural Association Board. Must have a vehicle and valid Texas driver license. Must pass a Background Check and Drug Screening. Must be familiar with the Stock Show Environment. Must be available the week of County Show in January. Will be able to work from home and/or the JCLAA office. No set hours of the day or week. Must be available during business hours. All other duties that may arise at any time to serve the needs of JCLAA. Must support the JCLAA Officers with all task. Will report to President of the Board. Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.

It’s time to order tags for the 2016 State Fair Lamb & Goat Validation and 2016-2017 Major Show Steer Validation.
All tags will cost $12 each. Orders should be paid for at the Extension Office by cash or checks can be made out to the 4-H Ag Fund. All payments are due upon placing the order.
Orders for all tags are due by April 8th to the Extension Office. Tags ordered after April 8th will cost $20 each.
