5 TOP TIPS FOR IMPROVING YOUR OFFICE PRODUCTIVITY

Page 2: Improve your office productivity

1.Improve your ergonomic setupTry to optimise your posture and take advantage of all ergonomically designed equipment offered at your workplace. Make sure your computer is at eye level, your posture is upright and your knees parallel to the floor with feet firmly planted.

2.Work smarter, not harderIf you tend to get more tasks done in the morning, start work 15 minutes early and get cracking. It sounds simple enough, but scheduling time to do the hardest tasks at the time of day you have the most concentration will help you complete it faster and to a higher standard. On the other hand if you’re more of a late riser, get through your most menial tasks in the morning; saving those which require most thought and input for your best working time.

3.Jot down distractionsKeeping a notepad and pen next to you on your desk can help you make the most of your time. Empty any stray distractions you have on to your to-do list which you can read through later. Knowing you aren’t really forgetting about that thought allows you to put it out of your mind and concentrate on the task at hand.

4.Get the lighting rightIt’s very important to have a well-lit workspace. Poor lighting can cause eyestrain, irritation or headaches. This is especially necessary during the winter months as there are limited sunlight hours outside. If the general lighting of your office is causing problems for you, you need to get some ‘task lighting’ - a light for your desk which you can adjust to wherever you and your current task needs it.

5.Clearer desk, clearer headClear your desk of unwanted items, leaving only the necessary tools you need on a day-to-day basis. Stay organised and file all your old notebooks - but make sure you know where you can find them if you need them in the future!
