Important Information Regarding Your Emery Checking Account  

A recent change to your checking account was approved by the Federal Government (effective Au‐gust 15, 2010).  This has affected the checking agreement currently in place for your account.  

With the new regulation we must obtain your approval to authorize payment of your debit card pur‐chases that may create an overdraft in your checking account.  Members prefer having this service to avoid the embarrassment of having their debit card purchases denied at a point of sale.  

To continue your Overdraft Protection service as it was originally in place, please complete the en‐closed form and return it to us in the postage paid envelope provided.  If you have any questions, please call us at (513) 530‐9351.   If you currently have a checking account with us– you will be re‐ceiving a letter in the mail within a few days to explain this further.

2010 Holiday Skip‐a‐Pay  Again this year we will offer our Members the opportunity to “skip” a loan payment once during the upcoming Christ‐mas/Holiday Season.    For a small processing fee– Members will be given the option to skip one payment during the months of Novem‐ber, December, or January.  This, however, excludes Mort‐gages.  More details and the Skip‐a‐Pay enrollment form will be available online beginning next month. 

Free Stuff on Facebook & Twitter Sure, Facebook is fun—mostly, but it’s also a great place to find *free stuff*! Companies know few young people read the paper, or watch as many TV com-mercials as they used to, but they *do* use social media like Facebook and Twit-ter. So those companies are using those platforms to reward loyal customers and pro-mote new products. Which means you can find everything from free food coupons to free weight loss products on Facebook and Twitter, and free and discounted event tickets, too. Sometimes it’s as easy as clicking on a Facebook fan page. Sometimes the promotions are contests, where you have to answer a trivia question, or take a picture of yourself with a product. But that little bit of work can be worth it. Toshiba just gave away 21 fully-loaded laptops in a two-month promotion, and TJ Maxx and Marshalls are giving away $1000 back-to-school shopping sprees. Polo is giving away free skis and a $2000 gift card. DQ lured 1.1 million Facebook fans just by giving away free ice cream! And it’s not just national promotions. Food trucks in big cities let their Facebook fans know where they will be during the day, and offer free food to the first 20 customers, for instance. And remember—your odds of winning local contests are likely greater—you may find you’re up against just a few dozen people for free food or movie tickets on a local page, versus a national one!
