Graduation Rate
Current Multiple MeasuresProjected Four-Year Dropout Rate – A measure of the cumulative proportion
of the 9th grade class that would drop out prior to graduation if that year’s grade-specific dropout rate was to remain constant over the four years until that class is to graduate.
Averaged Freshman Graduation Rate – Number of high school graduates
receiving a high school diploma in a given year divided by the average number of students enrolled in 8th grade five years earlier, 9th grade four years earlier, and 10th grade three years earlier.
AYP Graduation Rate – Number of graduates divided by number of graduates, plus the number who exit with documents other than a diploma and number of dropouts from graduating class in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades.
4-Year Cohort Graduation Rate – Number of on-time graduates in a given
year divided by the number of first-time entering 9th graders four years earlier adjusting for transfers in and out.

Definitions4-Year Cohort Graduation Rate
Graduate – A student who receives a high school diploma within four years.
Transfers in – A student who joins a cohort after the beginning of the 9th grade during the 4-year cohort period.
Transfers out – A student who transfers to another school, emigrates, or dies during the 4-year cohort period.
Students NOT Counted as Graduates4-Year Cohort Graduation Rate
Any student who drops out of school.
Any student who was not promoted to the next grade and who will not graduate with their cohort.
Any student who failed to return.
Any student who passed all required subtests of the AHSGE but did not earn all required credits.
Any student who earned all of credits for graduation but did not pass required subtests of the AHSGE.
Any student who earned a Graduation Certificate in fulfillment of their IEP requirements.
Any student who completed their GED.
