Pre-Service Meditation: Psalm 27 (p. 493, pew Bible; p.129, red hymnal)

[Pew Bibles are located on the book shelves in the narthex.]

Pre-Service Prayer: O Lord God, my dear heavenly Father, I come be-fore You today confessing that all too often I fail to represent You properly as Your child and heir in this life. Often my thoughts are impure, my words unkind, and my actions unloving. Please forgive my many sins and create within my heart a renewed desire each day to serve You. Send Your Spirit to live within me, so that my thoughts reflect Your will, my words Your kindness, and my actions Your love. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

CHANTING ORDER OF SERVICE

Hymn: 742 (tan Supplement) — “Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven” Prayer

WELCOME in the name of our Savior God who has called us into His kingdom as His children and heirs! Invocation:

Pastor: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Congregation: Amen.

All: O almighty God, merciful Father, I, a poor, miserable sinner, confess unto You all my sins and iniquities with which I have offended You. I justly deserve Your tem-poral and eternal punishment. But I am heartily sorry for my sins and sincerely repent of them. I pray that You would of Your boundless mercy and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, be gracious and merciful to me, a poor, sinful being.

P: Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, has had mercy upon you and has

given His only Son to die for you, and for His sake forgives you all your sins. To all who believe on His name He gives the privilege of being children of God and has promised them His Holy Spirit. He that be-lieves and is baptized shall be saved. Grant this, Lord, unto us all. C: Amen.

P: The Lord be with you

C: And with your spirit.

P: Glory be to God on high

C: And on earth peace, good will toward men.

P: We praise You, we bless You, we worship You,

C: We glorify You, we give thanks to You, for Your great glory.

P: O Lord God, heav'nly King,

C: God the Father Almighty.

P: O Lord, the only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ;

C: O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,

P: Who takes away the sin of the world,

C: Have mercy upon us.

P: You who takes away the sin of the world,

C: Receive our prayer.

P: You who sits at the right hand of God the Father,

C: Have mercy upon us.

P: For You only are holy;

C: You only are the Lord.

P: You only, O Christ, with the Holy Ghost,

C: Are most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Old Testament Reading: Genesis 12:1-4 (p.11, pew Bible)

God called Abraham to faith and then instructed him to leave behind his country, his family, and his father’s house. He was to go to a land God would show him—there to be blessed by God and to be a blessing to all the families of the earth!

Hymn: 40 — “The God of Abraham Praise” New Testament Reading: Luke 5:1-11 (p.909, pew Bible)

Peter, Andrew, James, and John were called to be four of Jesus’ disciples after Jesus performed a miracle of a large draught of fish. Peter’s reac-tion to the miracle was to protest his sinful unworthiness, but Jesus calls us all to follow Him with complete devotion.

Our Confession of Faith in the Apostolic Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended into hell.

The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.

From there He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit;

the holy Christian Church,

the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins;

the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Hymn: “Jesus Calls Us O’er the Tumult”

1. Jesus calls us o'er the tumult Of our life's wild, restless sea; Day by day His voice invites us, Saying, "Christian, follow Me!" 2. As the first disciples heard it By the Galilean lake, Turned from home and toil and kindred, Leaving all for His dear sake. 3. Jesus calls us from the worship Of the vain world's golden store, From each idol that would keep us, Saying, "Christian, love Me more." 4. In our joys and in our sorrows, Days of toil and hours of ease, Still He calls, in cares and pleasures, "Christian, love Me more than these."

KINSHIP NEWS UPDATE: The CLCI Seminary at Nidubrolu, India celebrated its 16th commencement on June 16th. Fourteen students received their diplomas after successfully completing the three-year course, and will be assigned their respective fields of pastoral labor. KINSHIP again gave a monetary gift to the graduates. We thank the Lord of the harvest for His blessing, as well as the CLC sponsors who helped support these men and their families for the last three years. We ask the Lord’s guidance and teaching comfort as a new class of students begin their studies. ...Pastor Joythi Benjamin also announced that a further ten students have completed the Bible cor-respondence course offered by the CLCI. 466 students have taken this course (Learn from Me – by Rev. Bertram Naumann) since 1993, which is offered free of charge to all. …Two members of the KINSHIP committee will see for themselves conditions abroad, even as they encourage the students, orphans and all the brethren. Mr. Sherman Carstensen has already left on a trip to East Africa, and will visit St. David’s Kinship school in Etago. Pastor Paul Naumann will travel to southern India later this fall, meeting with members of the CLCI and BELC. …At this time there is a need for several new sponsors: three student sponsorships are available, as well as one sponsorship for an orphan in Nepal. If you are interested, please contact Pastor David Fuerstenau for further details and informa-tion. [907-225-2842 or [email protected]] Always we are reminded that “pure and undefiled religion before God and the Fa-ther is this: to visit orphans and widows in their troubles…” James 1:27. Always we thank God for this privilege and duty, giving glory to Him in all things.

lines of bowling, lunch, silent auction,

Tour depends almost entirely on this

event for its funding, so your support is

very important and very appreciated. In order to register, please reply to

this email or visit the school website and pay via PayPal http://

www.immanuelmankato.org/school/history-tour-2014 . Cost of the tourna-

ment is $30 for bowlers ages 9 and up and $10 for bowlers 8 and under

with bumpers.

For those of you who aren't entirely familiar with History Tour...

History Tour attempts to immerse students in the history and day-to-day operation of our constitutional republic centered in Washington D.C. Knowing who we are means knowing from where we have come. History Tour is designed to give our 11th graders the perhaps once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only walk where our founding fathers walked, but wit-ness the day-to-day operations of our federal government.

The six day tour includes the following highlights:

Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument, FDR Memo-rial, White House Tour, U.S. Grant Memorial, U.S. Capitol Tour, Arlington National Cemetery, Iwo Jima (Marines) Memorial, Pentagon Memorial Park, Kennedy Center Tour, Library of Congress Tour, Supreme Court, National Archives Tour, Holocaust Museum, National Cathedral, Mt. Vernon Tour, Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, Ford’s Theater & Peter-son House Tour, and Gettysburg Battlefield Tour

Why are school items still in the hallways? Due to the recent flood-

ing, the lower level floor waxing needs to be redone. Volunteers will

be needed.

Church Choir Music & Folders: Please return to a narthex table or up-stairs where they are stored. Missing folders numbered: 7,12,13 (this one was not signed out—anyone know where it is, contact Sara),15.
