Would you like to?

• Achieve a national accreditation in Management & Leadership (Level 4) • Make a difference to the life of a young unemployed person?• Improve your mentoring and coaching skills

If so, we have an exciting new opportunity that will allow you to achieve all three, thanks to Inspire, Motivate & Engage - the UK’s ethical training provider.

The IME Career Mentoring programme invites you to become an online (or face to face) career mentor to a young unemployed person aged 18-24. By taking part you will be matched to a young person who has aspirations to work within your fi eld of expertise, e.g. if you’re a marketing manager, IME would match you to a young person who wants to become a marketing assistant/offi cer. This allows you to share insights into the role and industry and ‘be the expert’. Throughout your mentorship, you mentor the young person to improve their employability and help them to get a step closer to achieving their career goals.

Your Accredited Learning

Embedded in your mentoring experience is a Management & Leadership course at Level 4. This course is nationally accredited, meaning you will walk away with an accreditation for your professional portfolio. By taking part you will:

• Strengthen your mentoring and coaching capabilities• Enrich and stretch your coaching skills and approaches, learning how to coach another person to success• Learn the new essentials of great relationship working• Learn advanced communication techniques to help you infl uence ethically and increase your impact• Learn planning tools to help you run planning sessions with your young person• Increase your confi dence and enhance your line-management skills

“The IME mentoring Programme has helped to improve my self-worth and self-purpose. It taught me

coaching skills, but as well as this it allowed me to use my own initiative. As a result of this, my

communication improved as I found I communicated well to overcome any challenges I was facing.“

Helen Charles, Fund Accountant, Legal & General

What you will learn during the programme:

• How people learn• Action planning• Active listening skills• How to infl uence ethically • Coaching techniques• Understanding motivation • Giving effective feedback in person and email• Understanding the Johari Window• Setting effective objectives• Preparing your personal pitch• Reviewing and writing an effective CV• Interviewing skills

The support you will receive:

When starting the programme, you’ll receive training on how to become the best mentor you can be. The training will take place over a lunchtime via webinar making it easy for you to take part.

During your mentorship, you will receive two 1-hour coaching sessions with one of our expert tutors. These sessions take place over webinar at a time suggested by you. The training is bespoke to your needs, so you can choose which learning topics you wish to enhance, along with covering any challenges you currently face. We then make sure your training session meet your needs and builds your confi dence and skills in relevant areas.

Throughout your time mentoring, you will also have access to a Mentor Support Worker, who will be on-hand throughout your experience to provide advice, support and ‘mentor the mentor’.

You will have access to a bank of learning resources via our online mentoring platform. You can watch our tutorial videos and also access live webinars where you can receive advice from our expert tutors. You can also communicate safely and securely with your mentee via the site.

You’ll receive a Mentoring Manual, which contains a wealth of practical advice and techniques to help you, as well as further exercises that you can then use to continue your ongoing development.

Time commitment:

The programme only requires a time commitment of one-hour per week for three to six months depending on how much time you wish to spend on the programme each week. It’s completely fl exible which makes it easy for busy working professionals to take part.

It usually takes approximately one-month for us to fi nd a suitable match for you. During this time you can access your learning materials and watch tutorial videos. As all materials are based online, you can learn at a time that suits you. In total, it is expected for you to spend approximately fi ve hours completing your learning materials.

Making a difference while you learn

In 2014, we matched 360 unemployed young people and 98% reported that the programme signifi cantly improved their employability. As well as this, over 30% secured full-time employment thanks to the support and guidance of their mentor. By taking part in this unique programme, you can be a part of this and change the life of a young person in need, as well as positively impacting your own.

Mentee Testimonials“My mentor has been amazing. I’m now in a full-time job thanks to his help. I had lost all hope that I would ever fi nd work before taking part. I believe every young person like me should take part in this scheme. I’ve recommended it to all my friends.”

Mentor Testimonials:“The IME Mentoring programme helped me to develop my coaching skills and has opened my eyes to new ways of mentoring and motivating. It’s improved my communication skills and my ability to assess the mentee’s needs and tailor the conversation accordingly. It has also helped to develop my organisational skills, creativity, problem-solving and thinking on my feet. All of which have helped me with my day-to-day role.”

Jonathan Rennison, Corporate Management, Allianz

Your questions answered:

How will I know what to do in a session?Once you have joined the programme, you will have access to the online mentoring platform, which outlines sessions for you to run with your young person. These include guidelines and pre-prepared exercises that you can do together, reducing time needed to plan your sessions.

How do I communicate with my young person? You have a private messaging centre on your online mentoring platform that allows you to receive and send private messages to your mentee.

Can I meet my young person face to face or online? We always try to match you to a young person near to the location of your place of work so you can meet face to face at your offi ce. Meetings usually take place in the offi ce cafe or meeting room space. By inviting the young person to your place of work, you are helping to inspire them whilst also providing an insight into the working environment. However, you can choose to mentor online and by phone if you prefer. You simply need to let us know.

What level should I be to join the programme? We accept mentors from up, down and across businesses. We have matched top new talent from offi cer level through to managers and directors. It’s also suitable for people from a range of different roles; however, it is better suited to offi ce-based roles than manual work.

How much does it cost to join?It costs £1920 plus VAT to join the IME mentoring programme. This covers the matching with a young person in need, as well as your ongoing support, coaching sessions, online learning materials and evaluation.
