RAINWATER HARVESTING FILTER
MIFAB continues its leadership role in rainwater solutions with the introduction of a rainwater harvesting fi ltration system. The ready availability of high quality water is something that we have taken for granted for a long time. Increased urbanization, changing weather patterns and both the environmental and fi nancial cost of water provision now require us to look harder at how we utilize our natural resources.
INTRODUCTION:
The large roof areas typically found in commercial construction provide an ideal opportunity to collect signifi cant volumes of rainwater that are usually considered to be a waste product. By utilizing the MIFAB Rainwater Harvesting Filter in conjunction with traditional or siphonic roof drainage, much of this water can be harvested, fi ltered and stored. The fi lter can be sited inside or outside of the building and may be positioned at high level, low level or underground offering the most fl exible system on the market. The MIFAB system provides highly effective fi ltration across a wide range of fl ow rates removing all solids and particulates above 400μm as well as providing a barrier to mosquitos and other insect life.
The removal of solid and organic matter from the collected rainwater prevents deoxygenation during storage, ensuring that water remains fresh. The fi lter is designed to be self-cleaning requiring only minimal, simple maintenance. The modular design simplifi es the integration of water harvesting into bigger projects whilst stainless steel construction provides robust, durable components ideally suited for the rigors of commercial and industrial environments. The naturally soft water collected is suitable for toilet fl ushing, laundries, vehicle wash, irrigation, fi re protection and other non-potable uses.

How the system works
Rainwater inlet
Cleaned water to storage
Debris and excess water to stormwater drain
Rainwater is evenly distributed across the diffuser 1. and falls onto the fi ltration screen. Agitation of the water when passing over the diffuser and through the fi lter serves to aerate the water improving its storage quality.
Organic material and debris are washed across the 2. surface of the fi ltration screen and are fl ushed into the stormwater drains
Clean water passes through the fi ltration screen and 3. fl ows to storage tanks

The MIFAB Rainwater Harvesting Filter is designed to effi ciently capture and fi lter rainwater from the roofs of commercial buildings. For large roof areas, multiple fi ltration systems may be installed in appropriate locations or increased capacity systems may be used. Our modular design provides the opportunity to utilize longer or deeper fi lters, depending on where it is intended to install the system maximizing the volume of water captured. All MIFAB fi lters are manufactured in the USA from the highest quality components.
In view of the diverse climatic conditions we face in the USA, MIFAB offer the local architect, engineer and contractor the option of selecting storage vessels from local providers. We will however provide direct access to our design and support team so all components combine to provide an integrated fully functioning system. Our unrivalled installation options makes this the perfect system to integrate with all roof drainage strategies and maximizes the opportunities to supply both overground and underground storage tanks.
Maintenance of the fi ltration system is simple: several times each year (dependant on locations) the fi ltration screen should be removed from the fi lter housing and pressure washed to remove any fi ne particles that may block the screen. A check for debris build-up in the housing should be made before re-assembly of the fi lter components.
