Research Question

• What is the existing innovation network, using simulation, between Defence and Security partners; and

• If we build a future expanded Distributed Simulation Capability, would this network be “healthier”



Aim

• This research will provide valuable insight into how to improve collaboration, through an expanded Distributed Simulation Capability, for Defence and Security Innovation stakeholders.

Innovation in DaS

• Historically, organized through funding / approval process– Develops into “stovepipes”

• Collaboration / partnerships improving• Networks, and simulation, provide capability

to greatly increase inter-organizational collaboration



Business Ecosystem Theory

• Organizations inter-operate not as isolated entities, nor purely competitive

• Different organizations play a variety of roles• Linkages / relationships represent different

dependencies• View organizations, and inter-organization

relationships as an “Ecosystem”• Can assess “health” of linkages, organizations and
