IDEAS FOR OUR SETTING AND FINAL

DECISION

A CREEPY BASEMENT

Using a run-down basement is a classic setting that creates a tense atmosphere. It would be very easy to dress a dark basement in an appropriate way for our witch gathering inspired film opening.

We would need a lot of space to create a circle formation for our actors and props to allow movement for the camera shots.

AN EMPTY GARAGE/PARKING LOTWe also realized that a very accessible place that can be used and easily dressed for our film is an empty resident garage or parking lot. This is because it has indoor lighting so we can film any time of the day and loads of space. Additionally, the look of a place like that is still very in keeping with the eerie atmosphere we are going to convey

THE WOODS AT NIGHTAnother place that is very appropriate but quite unlike the other suggestions is the woods. This is a very accessible location but would purely depend on the weather and time of day for usability.

The woods are eerie and should have enough space to provide for our mise en scene and actors.

OUR SETTING: A dark garage, dressed with appropriate props

The setting that we used was one of the most available and practical locations that was available. The place looked particularly good on film as when we blocked out the rest of the light other than the candles, the shot only included key images that were needed in the framing.

The area was spacious enough to include all of our actors and the props. We did not use other alternatives such the woods becauseof external factors such as the weather or availability, our chosen location can also be used again if we need to re-shoot.
