offers the creative planning solutions to

each unique sites and its requirements. The

firm conducts details analysis of each

KameelIspha graduated in honours in Interior desig

n from the Nottingham Trent

University in UK recently. In 1996,

he started working as freelance working with differe

nt companies such as Kembara Dunia

Sdn. Bhd., Airbrone Shoppe, Radius Gsea Sdn.

Bhd., Parker Caroll design Sdn. Bhd., Zen Aura

Sdn. Bhd. and so on. He joined HMSK Architecture

Sdn. Bhd. in year 2013 as the Head of Interior

Design Department. Kameel

Ispha has worked on many projects through nearly a

decade. His ability to develop on-

of a kind design solution which is to visualize entire

concepts and also his outstanding, eminent and capt

ivating sense of balance and harmony have been pur

sing him to a successful career.

Michael Chong graduated from

Australia in1990. He worked

Philip Cox’s Sydney office for

two years before coming back

to Malaysia where he joined SA

Architects Sdn Bhd. He was

promoted as an associate

director in996 where his role

expanded to manage the

architectural team in both Kuala

Lumpur and Manila offices. In

year 2000, he established

HMSK Associates Sdn Bhd, in

association with ZONE

Architect and have worked on

projects regionally in the Asia

pacific region. His design skill

and direction is largely

developed from his

international exposure. This

range of experience introduces a

design style and building vision

that captures the essence of a

project.

Ar. Hiew Hong Wai

Upon graduating from Sydney,

he worked with Akitek Maju

bina Chartered Architects for 10

years, designing and

implementing high-rise

residential, commercial,

interiors, airline offices,

institutional and bungalow

projects. In 1996, he was

promoted to design associate

and was a founder of Maju Bina

Horizon Sdn Bhd, a firm

established to provide interior

design and space planning

consultancy services mainly to

corporate offices.

He led the design team in 1996-

1997. On the completion of the

designs, he left his previous

office to commence his

architectural practice HMSK

Associates Sdn Bhd in associate

with ZONE Architect in the

year 2000.

-B. Arch. (Hon.) UTM

P. Ravi did his tertiary in

University of Technology,

Skudai, Johor, majoring in

Architecture. Started working in

the public Works Department

before joining SA Architects

Sdn Bhd in 1992. He has

successfully designed and

completed a number of notable

projects. His flair in design has

gained him promotion to Design

Associate in 2002 leading the

office design team. Through his

designs, he has won prestigious

projects. He joined HMSK

Associates Sdn Bhd in year

2005 as Director in-charge of

Architecture and Design

Management. He has just

completed assignment for

international projects such as

Dubai Marina Service

Apartment and Jumeirah Lake

towers cluster Z.

located in Melaka.

It’s the biggest in Asia.

The restaurant is built to be

unique and classic.

TGV INDULGE

TGV Indulge is placed inside

One Utama in Bandar Utama

Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

Indulge is a new concept for

a new movie-going

experience. It has the most

luxurious cinema. It has

reclining chairs, fluffy

comforters and personalized

call-waiter-service that can

give relaxation while watching

a movie...

To complete a cinema

watching experience, it

also own a private ticketing

counter, and a private lounge

area.

DESIGNING the HARD ROCK CAFÉ Designing Hard Rock Café Melaka

has been a very cultural project despite its

international renowned brand for interior

designer Kameel Ispha, with its location of

being in the heart of Melaka along the

famous Jonker street. The historical site

listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site

located by the river maintains the design

language of neighbouring buildings and

successfully transmits the diversified local

culture into the vision of famous

international brand.

Kameel was required to meet the standards

of Hard Rock International and blend them

with the domestic influences mainly the

Peranakan culture – a mixture of Malay

and Chinese influences. A team was put

together to come up with several idea and

design options using design programs such

as Sketch up, Adobe photoshop and

illustrator, Studio max and Autocad based

on the information given by the client.

Finalized designs were consulted with

electrical and mechanical engineers and

lighting interior designers. After the green

light was given by the client, contractors,

suppliers and quantity surveyors were

called in for the production of the project.

The floor is designed with the use of the

local timber known as Merbau. Other parts

of the café uses floor tiles that further

transforms into Peranakan inspired

designs, which combines the traditional

local texture and pattern with the brand

colours – maroon red and mustard yellow.

The focal point of every Hard Rock Café

which is the memorabilia, runs along the

left wall to the dining area, where the

items, against the background of red

velvet, are displayed above circular shaped

banquette seating. High wooden ceiling

space with the brick wall at the back were

inspired by the architecture of local

houses. The floral pattern from traditional

batik fabric was laser cut in the vertical

stripped black metal panels and

highlighted by colour changing LED

lights. The interior on the other hand is

separated from the outside dining by

windows inspired from Chinese heritage

and multi-coloured glass partitions.

TGV Indulge@One Utama located in cinemas in One Utama Shopping mall.

It’s a 2 hall venue seating 72, part of a larger cinema

complex with 12 cinemas inclusive of Beanie, Luxe

and IMAX. Indulge being a product from TGV

cinemas as an alternate way to enjoy going to the

movies, by offering a intimate lounge dining

environment. The space is intended for small groups

to corporate events. Where the patrons may enjoy

dinner or an event before continuing to indulge in a

screening. The process for the designing TGV,

Indulge @One Utama is firstly the client reach the Interior Designer due to social

networking. The ID got 2weekstime to understand the brief and come out with the concept in

2 weeks time. That concept will be the first presentation of the ID to the client. Secondly, the

ID will change the first presentation item change in to the client requirement. After the client

comfirm the design and ID will pass the plan to the Quantity Surveyor (QS)

Thirdly, QS will bounce back with a price

list and the client will comfirm it or change

the material to the cheaper one and cut the

budget. Fourthly, once the client comfirm

with the price list, the plan will be passed

to the Mechanical Engineer (M&E).

During Construction, ID responsible to edit

the plan or change to plan as changes will

occur during construction.

Next, air-conditioning system will be

installed and as well as the projectorFloor

carpet will be install and as well as the

seats for consumer. Lastly, the soundproof

wall’s should be done at this time.
