show, I’ve spoken to people who have and they have noth-ing but compliments about their show, so if you want to see something different, that’s definitely the show!

I hope u all have a great march and if you see us out and about, please come say Hi and always remember to Party Responsibly!

I’ve always believed that for some reason March is a good luck month for me, I can’t explain it but March has always been good to me.

Now March doesn’t really have any big holidays except for Eas-ter that’s coming around the corner, so I decided to do some re-search on all the holidays in March, and there’s 1 I really love, it’s called “make up your own holiday day”. I think I would call mine, stay in bed and watch old movies day!

We also have the lovely Chantal Coetzee on the cover, she won our Redd’s cover search, and I think you would all agree she did a terrific job posing for us, thx Chantal! Cirque du Soleil Dralion are also in South Africa in March and although I’ve never seen a

Rocca (Justin da Rocha) & Martini (Keegan Martens) were born and raised in Johannesburg South Africa. The music bug had bitten them in their early ages of their lives by always being interested

in the latest electronic music. As they reached the beginning stage of their teenage years, a passion ignited for the love and art of DJíng. It would not be extinguished as it just grew. Before wasting any more time Justin & Keegan both took basic DJ lessons given by friends and mentors starting on 12” vinyls, working up through to CDJ’s. All the knowledge they had received just flowed out their hands and throughout the speakers. They were solo acts until they met each other through mutual friends.

With separate music tastes and backgrounds, the respect between each other was immense. After deciding to join together in 2011 and form the name of Rocca & Martini (as known today) they had a sniff of individual success. Quoted “ I think we have made the right decision by forming together to create this group as we have brought each of our individual knowledge, ideas and character to combine into one huge performance to give our fans double the music, double the show and double the euphoria.”

In their performances and shows, with a few live elements, they are able to incorporate live samples off two laptops, Ro

& M

artin

i sample pads, midi keyboards and effect processors into their sets with occasionally a live vocalist performing with them. When they describe what to expect in their sets “It’s all about the experience we put on for our fans and the high fist pumping energy we create!

Saint Patrick was a Romano-BritishChristian mission-ary and bishop in Ireland. Known as the “Apostle of Ireland”, he is the primary patron saint of the island,

along with Saints Brigid and Columba.

Two authentic letters from him survive, from which come the only generally-accepted details of his life When he was about 16, he was captured from his home by pagan-raiders and taken as a slave to Ireland, where he lived for six years before escap-ing and returning to his family.

After becoming a cleric, he returned to northern and western Ireland as an ordained bishop, but little is known about the places where he

worked. By the seventh century, he had already come to be revered as the patron saint of Ireland.

Saint Patrick’s Day is observed on March 17, the date of his death. It is celebrated both inside and outside Ireland, as both a liturgi-cal and non-liturgical holiday. In the dioceses of Ireland, it is both a solemnity and a holy day of obligation; outside Ireland, it can be

a celebration of Ireland itself. Saint Patrick’s Day was made an official feast day in the early seventeenth century, and has gradually become a celebration of Irish culture in general. The day is generally character-ised by the attendance of church services, wearing of green attire, public parades and processions, and the lifting of Lenten restrictions oneating, and drinking alcohol, which is often proscribed during the rest of theseason.W

DAYS OF THE YEAR: MARCH01 Friday March: PIG DAYThe Pig is a wholly underrated animal, so this special day was created in

1972 to attempt to elevate awareness of the intellectual prowess, adapt-ability and general tastiness of the humble Pig. Celebrate Pig Day by tying pink ribbons to trees to symbolise curly pink tails, and then either give the poor piggies a break in recognition of their service, or tuck into a nice bacon sarmie – your choice.

08 Friday March: WOMEN’S DAYWomen’s Day is celebrated internationally, aiming to raise awareness

of the challenges, struggles and continuing inequality faced by women worldwide. It celebrates women’s history, highlighting key events, milestones and achievements, and aims to further promote and raise awareness of women’s rights and to achieve equal opportunity status in all walks of life.

10 SUNDAY MARCH: DAY OF AWESOMENESSA day for celebrating all things awesome, and everything awesome that

you, your friends, and everybody else does. Take a moment to consider everything that you’re awesome at, and to recognise feats of awesome-ness performed around you for the Day Of Awesomeness.

13 WEDNESDAY MARCH: NO SMOKING DAYNo Smoking Day encourages you to ‘take the leap’ and give up ciga-

rettes and smoking. Local authorities, business and organisations come together on this day to support people who are trying to quit by offering support, advice and hosting activity days. Anyone struggling to quit smoking any drug other than tobacco should seek professional help.

22 FRIDAY MARCH: GOOF OFF DAYA chance to step back from the rigours and pressures of every-day

life,Goof Off Day encourages you to take some time to be silly, waste an hour or two, and to do something a bit different!

26 TUESDAY MARCH: MAKE UP YOUR OWN HOLIDAY DAYOne of our favourite days of the year, Make Up Your Own Holiday Day

is a chance to throw away the rule book and celebrate however you like! Get together with your friends and create your own special holiday, and who knows, if it becomes popular enough, it might end up on our calendar!

Gym Class Hero: Morning GloryBeing a gym class hero takes more than a good pair of sneakers

I was sitting thinking of what to write about and then it hit me like a stitch in the chest– gym workout routines! A dreaded thought for most of the women I know (including myself ). Until

recently, I was an avid runner and then the December holiday bug caught me, and my routine went “down” with the rest of the festivities.

After weeks of continuously convincing myself that 5am is way too early to rise, I finally made the decision to hit the treadmill and skipping ropes, and let me tell you it was a tough one to make. After abusing the snooze button on my phone for a good few minutes after the original wakeup call, I dragged myself from the grips of my warm duvet and attempted to dress in the dark (Not a good idea I learned when I arrived at gym wearing mix matched socks and a vest that was fit for a 14 year old).

Despite my wardrobe mal-function and a rare condition known to many early risers as “Red eye disorder” (caused by lack of sleep and no morning coffee) I got my butt onto that treadmill and soon after was loving the bicycle and skipping rope too.

Now for the nitty gritty fashion basics of a successful gym routine – seeing that I adore and love all things fashion and have com-menced my journey into the world of fitness, clothing is key. As if daily work and social life wardrobes are not stressful enough, finding that perfect pair of trainers and comfortable clothing to compliment your new adventure can prove to be a workout all on its own. Once you have the outfit sorted, grab yourself a sweat towel, a BIG bottle of water and embrace your workout – Re-

member to stay hydrated! Healthy people are happy people…

Is it safe to then say that I have once again mas-tered the art of getting up for early morning classes again? Mmm… Let’s talk again in a few months and see how the routine is holding up.

What is spinning?Spinning is an intense cardio workout on a stationary bike. In a spinning class

all the bikes face the instructor who plays a variety of music designed to motivate you to pedal fast or slower, according to the beat, while talking you through visualisations of an outdoor cycling workout: he/she will describe various settings you are supposedly cycling through as you adjust your resistance and pedal ac-cordingly. For example: “ Adjust your resistance to eight as we go up a hill, you’re almost at the top…”

Health Benefits of doing Spinning:1. It can maximize your body’s fat burning ability. 2. It can help you develop lean muscles. 3. It can improve your cardiovascular health. 4. It can improve your posture.5. It can work out many different muscle groups. 6. It can boost your overall fitness level. Spinning tipsBecause spinning is such a vigorous activity, you should do a few things before,

after and during your class to make the most of your workout:1.Hydrate.Spinning makes you sweat. A lot. So hydrate with at least two glasses of water,

at least an hour before you start a class. Bring a water bottle with you. And be sure to drink lots of water when you’re done.

2.Eat right. Your body will need lots of fuel to get through a spinning workout. Eat a bal-

anced diet that includes protein, carbs, fruits and veggies. Don’t eat an hour before you work out, though, because spinning on a full stomach could make you nauseated. Instead, eat a well-balanced after-spin snack or meal

3.Go at your own pace.Because you can adjust the speed and intensity of the workout to your liking,

you should never feel like you have to overextend yourself during a class. If you’re not comfortable at a certain pace, slow down. It’s not worth injuring yourself or getting discouraged.

4.Stretch. Stretching before and after a spinning workout will reduce your risk of injury

and will loosen you up for next time.5.Ask questions. If this is your first, second or even third time spinning, don’t be afraid to ask the

spinning instructor questions. Instructors can help you figure out the best seated position for you on your bike, including how far your knees should extend during a cycle rotation and even how to adjust the handlebars for workout comfort. Instructors want you to have fun and have a great workout, so take advantage of their expertise.

Class rules:When you arrive at a spinning class you’ll choose or be assigned to a bike. It’s

a good idea to arrive a few minutes early so you can set yours up properly. If it’s your first class, let the instructor know so he or she can keep an eye on you.

One year after meeting, Tom proposes to his girlfriend, Violet, but unexpected events keep trip-ping them up as they look to walk down the aisle together. This is a very funny and quirky story starring Jason Segel (How I met your mother, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Emily Blunt (The Wolfman, Devil wears Prada). The pairing of Segel and Blunt is an example of Elegance meets Crudeness but it works well and makes this film rather charming. The humour ranges from in your face, slapstick to subtle and witty allowing most people to find this comedy enjoyable. Ryhs Ifan gives a charismatic performance as Violet’s psychology Professor and cameos from the cast of Saturday Night Live ensures laughter from start to end. I recommend you watch this film.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower 11/10Based on the novel written by Stephen Chbosky, about 15-year-old Charlie (Logan Lerman), an

endearing and naive outsider, coping with first love (Emma Watson), the suicide of his best friend, and his own mental illness while struggling to find a group of people with whom he belongs. The introvert freshman is taken under the wings of two seniors, Sam and Patrick, who welcome him to the real world. This has to be one the greatest movies I have had the privilege of watching, the film sucks you into the lives of these remarkable characters, you share their pain and joy. There is nothing that I can fault this film on, the performanc-es were brilliant and the story was exceptional, a perfect film technically and creatively. A must watch.

Cirque du Soleil Dralion

THE SHOWREEL MOVIE REVIEWThe Five-year Engagement 7/10

Cirque du Soleil is pleased to announce its return to South Africa with Dralion performing from March 5, 2013 at Grand West Arena, Cape Town and March 21, 2013 at Coca-

Cola Dome, Johannesburg. Since its debut in 1999, Dralion has wowed over 2.5 million people worldwide.

Fusing the 3000 year-old tradition of Chinese acrobatic arts with the multidisciplinary approach of Cirque du Soleil, Dralion (pronounced “Dra-lee-on”) draws its inspiration from Eastern philosophy and its never-ending quest for harmony between humans and nature.

The show`s name is derived from its two emblematic creatures: the dragon, symbolizing the East, and the lion, symbolizing the West.

Here’s the story - You are Dante, a Nephilim (Half demon on your Dad’s side and half angel on your Mom’s side). You’re brother, Virgil, asks you to help defeat Mundus - the demon king. Now, Mundus basically

controls everything from money, to politics to soft drinks(you don’t wanna know what’s in the stuff). (Kind of like our goverment, but without the de-monic element..... I think - hehe).

The reboot of theDevil May Cry franchise is a breath of fresh air. The visuals are amazing, the gameplay rocks and Dante is still as bada** as ever! There are a few changes to the franchise, but good changes and it totally makes for a killer of a game, e.g. this Dante is half angel and half demon, giving you the best of both worlds with and awesome array of extra weapons to boot (I’m talking about an angelic scythe and a demonic battle axe!), but don’t threat, your trusty old sword Rebellion and pistols; Ebony and Ivory are still there.

Most of your battles take place in Limbo (The Underworld, the bad place, not where you wanna be, you get the idea, which looks beautiful - design-wise) and there you slash, grapple(new and awesome) and shoot your way through everything to basically get to Mundus and kill him.

Fans of the original franchise, might be like little girls regarding the reboot, but I say well done to ‘Ninja Theory’ (They did ‘Heavenly Sword’ on PS3) for

doing a stirling job. The story is good, the gameplay is responsive and the graphics are superb. All in all a pretty solid game, just a bit short......(about 10 or so hours)

And now the verdict....Get it, you must! If you were a fan of

the original DMC franchise, you won’t be dissapointed. This game is awe-some, even with a few if’s and butt’s here and there.

And in the words of Dante to Suc-cubus - if you don’t like it, then: f**k you! (You’re gonna love the dialogue in this game)

Be warned however - This game has a explicit violence, language and the oc-casional sexual reference and blasphi-mous outburst and is not recomended for the sensitive.

Soul Renovators is God-Lead creative, soul-soothing accapella group that is made up of a 4 males: 4 Vocalists and one word-

smith (Poet).

The group members are Thabang Mtambo , Thabo Mtambo, Tebo-go Smith, Beon Nkuna and Mmotseng Motsamai , who are all from the Vaal Region of Gauteng, more specifically the richly cultured precinct of Sharpeville.

The group earned their name from the soulful, jazz-infused, gospel inspired musical elements found in their sound. To add to the already stunning variety in musical kaleidoscope, their music is then backed by a beautiful sound of a beat-box.

Their music is distinctive, sweet on the ears and healing on the soul. Very smooth and melodic and has touched many souls since they began singing as a collective from the beginning of November 2010.

Many musical influences have played a major role in crafting the beautiful musical entity which is now known as Soul Renovators. These supreme influences are the likes of The SOIL, Hugh Masekela, Blaqseed, something soweto ,THE FRIDGE and many more.” The Souls” as they have been affectionately known by their peers draw inspiration from their immediate environment, each other with God as the major contributor..
