Yellow Mountain Trip We visited again the Yellow Mountains, been listed as a World natural and Cultural heritage

site.

A group foreign interns and Chinese students actively embarked on a journey to get a taste

of the culture of China for 3 days. Everybody enjoyed this trip even having experienced

five-six hours hike that left everyone thoroughly exhausted and dying of thirst and feeling

the cold weather. But the most important was the friendship that started on this trip and will

remain it for all of us!

Yellow Mountain Trip was an unforgettable experience for everybody. So we accomplished

our mission:

IAESTE connects people from all over the world!

Living an IAESTE internship experience in Piura, Perú

Work place: ADEN - Asesoria y Diseño Electromecanico del Norte

Crossing the Eurasia continent and Atlantic Ocean, after 24 hours exhausted flight I finally

arrived at Lima. Alfonso-volunteer of IAESTE picked me up at the airport and hosted me one

day with his family. His family were so kind and warm-hearted which made me like home.

As soon as I arrived in Piura, I fell in love with this small city as sun was shining every day!

I worked in an electricity company named ADEN, which was mainly providing electricity

solution and directly impacts the productivity of different industries. During the internship, I

helped in the electricity conversion and transmission projects and was responsible for asking

price and purchasing electricity products from some Chinese companies. My colleagues in

ADEN were so nice and we usually had some interesting conversations during lunch time.

Peru is such a good place to explore because of the diversity culture. You can try the delicious

Peruvian typical foods here, for example pollo a la plaze - chicken roasted in a big oven,

ceviche - seafood with lemon, mixed with fried corn, onion... Regarding Peruvian folks, they

impressed me with their warm-heart, honesty and positive attitudes toward life.

Living near Piura University, the trainees were accessible to attend their classes and university

activities. What’s more, Piura’s IAESTE volunteers often organized trips during weekends. So

we had fun!

I came alone in Peru but accepted in a big family and left my heart there. Three months filled

with so many wonderful memories that I will cherish in all my life. Thanks IAESTE for this

opportunity and also thanks all my lovely friends in Perú for helping me so much, hope I could

meet you again in the future.

There is no greater bliss than achieving your childhood dreams, when I was a kid about five I

said my mom that I would go as far as I could and buy the longest tie possible, I haven’t find

any long tie in the way but I find this opportunity and I cannot find other place as far and as

different than China to make this dream come true all thanks to this program called IAESTE,

my name is Luis and I came from Mexico.

I’m working in the procurement department of Wanhua Chemical Group the 2nd largest MDI

(Methylene Diphenyl Iisocyanate) producer in the world. The company is located in Yantai

City, in the north east peninsula of China, in Shandong province near to North and South

Korea. Our department is in charge of buying all the raw materials such as aniline, methanol,

sodium chloride, and lot of other different substances to make three plants working

continuously. My project in the company is research and analyzes the Salt Market of the

principal international trade players (China, USA, India, Canada, Mexico, Australia and

Chile).

Since I arrive here I have learned a lot about China and I’ve broken all the misconceptions

that I had before, I have learn Chinese way they do business (in a gross mode) and how they

are growing as fast as they do it, but, beyond that, I have the chance to learn about the culture,

“IAESTE experience taught me to overcome the daily problems.”

As Love and War are the eternal theme of human beings, trouble and treasure are the theme of

my travel to Turkey.

I’ve just arrived to the Ataturk Airport and waited for 10 hours to meet somebody who picked

me up. When I got to Izmit, the city where I would work there, I bumped into culture shock

problem. However, I overcame all of the troubles by myself, and these difficulties

accompanied me to grow up , so these things eventually became a valuable wealth in my life .

It had been several months after returning from Turkey, I began to found a job as soon as I

came back, and I really had a lot of trouble when I did this. Iaeste overseas internship taught

me lots of values. Thanks IAESTE China and Shanghai Maritime University gave me this

unique opportunity to let me grow up , and also thanks the people who helped me in China and

Turkey. This will be an important part in my life .

wish is different from my home country but, not that much, specially I discovered that some

believes and values are very similar, what is very nice, people here in Yantai is very friendly

and I have lot of friend already. They are very interested in Mexican culture too and I’m

placed to share a little bit of my country, in that way, it have been easy to me to get used to

Yantai’s live style plus that as a foreign I’m little spoiled here and I love Chinese food I have

earned three kilos that I’m not sure how to loss it back.

China is an amazing country with lot of history and beautiful places; I had the chance to visit

Beijing, Shanghai, Huangshan and Dalian since I arrived, all of them very nice. To

complement this wonderful experience I have meet some others foreigners from very different

country from whom I have lean another kinds of cultures and with some of them I created a

very nice relation.

Undoubtedly China’s IAESTE experience is the most amazing adventure that I have never

living in my life, thanks so much IAESTE.

One of the best decisions I have ever made in my life is becoming part of IAESTE. This is my

third internship (previously I have been in Thailand and Turkey) and it could not be better.

Ni hao, my name is David and I am from Spain. I have always been interested in Asia, which

was also the reason why I chose China for my internship. After just one week, I knew it was

the right decision.

I am working at Mettler Toledo in Changzhou. The company has prepared a very good and

complete program for its interns. We are working in different departments, where our

colleagues are always teaching us, helping us, showing us the working environment and doing

their best to make us feel part of the team. Our co-workers are organizing activities such as

barbecues and we usually go to have dinner or play badminton after work.

Some of our colleagues also have joined us for some trips. In five weeks here, we already have

visited Shanghai, Beijing and the Great Wall, Hangzhou and Huangshan mountains. China is a

huge country and we are trying to discover it as much as possible. The company always

supports us and allows us sometimes to take a couple of days off, if we need to travel a long

distance.

This internship is not only providing us a deep knowledge about the Chinese culture, habits,

lifestyle, work style…,but also an experience which could be very useful for our future careers.

Sometimes the cultural change is very different and shocking, but this is a great opportunity to

develop ourselves and learn how to adapt to new situations.

Due to all of these reasons and the great time that I am having here, I have decided to extend

my internship for another three months. I am very happy to keep improving my personal and

professional skills here.

Thank you IAESTE! Thank you, CHINA!
