Bodene Bernstrom stands up and helps the Sydney Blues defeat the Newcastle Hunters--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Sydney,NSW- Coach Graeme Eadie makes many decisions that turn out for the better. This season he brought in a little known Quarterback in Bodene Bernstrom and he has stuck by him despite sub par performances. Yet today against the Newcastle Hunters Bernstrom showed just what he is capable off with a great performance. Bernstrom bombed away as the Blues unleashed a vertical passing game on the hapless Hunters. Whilst his accuracy still has a lot of work left, Bernstrom's arm strength had the Hunters in all sorts of problems.

Newcastle began well enough, a 12 play drive began the game and Ian Lasscock was on the end of a 4 yard swing pass for the touchdown. But Sydney responded as Bernstrom ran in his own touchdown after scrambling to his right.

Shaun Murdoch kicked a field goal on the next drive but before we could get excited about the most unlikely of points shoot outs, the points dried up. Newcastle gave up an interception before being shut down quickly. Sydney meanwhile kept the pressure on and after a Mike Williams field goal it was Devin Hester who beat his man and went deep with Bernstrom good enough to find him.

Williams kicked another field goal in the third before Hester again was on the scoresheet to extend the lead to 27-10. Newcastle battled on to the end and Lasscock scored his second touchdown but it would prove just a consolation.
