For professionals, i.e. chefs of some Latvian restaurants a Special Chefs Master Class is organised on 30 September 2015, where the Chef and gastro-advisor of the Hungarian diplomacy,
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary is advising how to prepare traditional Hungarian dishes in a traditional way and meeting the expectations of the modern cuisine. For our partners facilitating and contributing to the Hungarian Days events the Embassy of Hungary is delighted to organise a gulys-party, an informal and pleasant evening with the traditional Hungarian soup cooked outside at open fire. The evening is sugared with nice Hungarian wine, the unique Hungarian chimney cake (krts-kalcs) and the excellent music and voice of talented Latvian Elza Rozentle. 3. Hungarian wine has a history dating back to the Romans. Outside of Hungary the best known wines are the white dessert wines of Tokaj, which was called by XV. Louis the queen of wines and the wine of the kings, and the red dry Bulls Blood. In the last 25 years Hungarian wine production gained back its glory and on 22 different wine regions excellent white, red and ros wines are at our joy. Did you know that ros is not a blend of
white and red wine, but made purely of blue grapes like red wine, just wine makers separate the grapes immediately from the juice so it cannot have dark colour. The most traditional Hungarian grape varieties are Furmint, Hrslelev, Juhfark, Kirlylenyka, Cserszegi fszeres (whites), Kadarka, Kkfrankos (reds). Hungary was partner of the Latvian EU Presidency and during some ministerial meetings in Riga Hungarian wines were served to the guest.
