HUMAN VALUES IN MOVIES

WHAT ARE HUMAN VALUES ?

Human values are the virtues that guide us to take into account the human element when one interacts with other human beings. They are the many positive dispositions that create bonds of humanity between people and thus have value for all of us as human beings.

Human values are the foundation for any viable life within society: they build space for a drive, a movement towards one another, which leads to peace.

Human values thus defined are universal: they are shared by all human beings, whatever their religion, their nationality, their culture, their personal history. By nature, they induce consideration for others.

ROLE MOVIES PLAY IN OUR LIFE

Good art will always affect people. That might be one way to define "good art"- it has an impact/effect.

Everything we watch and listen to, affects and influences us at some level or the other. If not consciously, it leaves its traces in our psyche.

Cinema has perhaps the greatest potential to be the most effective mass media instrument. Besides proving cheap entertainment for masses, it can easily become a means of mass instruction and mass education.

HUMAN VALUES IN THE MOVIE

Persistence and Determination- The people who succeed have made up their minds about what they want, which is why they succeed. Chris made up his mind and stuck with it. That initially involved a minimum of 200 phone dials a day to people who often hung up on him. Most people don’t have that kind of conviction, which is why they flounder in mediocrity.

Toady in this modern era, it is very hard to have such a high level of determination.

Also when you lose it is very hard to stand again with such level of dedication.

Positive Attitude- In spite of all the crisis in his life he still looks forward in a positive way and keeps his hard work on, until he succeeds.

Positive attitude this is the key element if you want to be successful in life even things are against your favour.

Page 10: Human Values in Movies

Responsibility- Many lesser fathers would have given up, much like Linda does in the movie. Unlike Chris, she is not dedicated to making the family work, even though she has scarified much. Chris' decision to be a father at all costs and subsequently buck advice to give up his child to social services.

Today we see, parents think that providing facilities to their children is their only responsibility and they do not provide their children with emotional support and give them some time.

HUMAN VALUES IN THE MOVIE

Honesty - Salman, who plays true devotee of Bajrangbali, keeps saying 'Hum Bajrangbali ke bhakt hain, mar jayenge, lekin jhoot nahin bolenge‘. This only teaches us to be honest in every situation.

Today we see that people are selfish that they are not honest with each other.

Have Faith in God - In the movie there are many instances that shows he has immense trust on God, thus we get to learn that all you need to have is, faith in God and rest everything will fall in place.

Always Helpful - Salman goes all the way to help a little girl from Pakistan, who is lost in India and can't speak. He takes it upon himself to take the child back to her hometown.

Today such things happen only in movies only. It is very hard to tohave such courage to risk our life just to help others.

Page 17: Human Values in Movies

Humanity over country - Despite being an ardent disciple of Bajrangbali and belonging to India (in the film), Salman's character gives preference to humanity over country. He selflessly goes all out to help the little girl, who belongs to altogether different country (Pakistan) and religion.

This is the thing that differ reel life from real life. People prefer country over humanity. If today’s Generation realises that humanity comes before religion or country than half of the world problems would be solved.

Fearless - Regardless of all the odds and oppositions, it appears Salman fearlessly fights back and stands by his decisions.

In today’s World everyone have fear of something so its is very tough to be fearless but what matters is that how you can overcome your fear.

Kindness - Salman apparently plays a large-hearted character, who is always raring to come to others' rescue.

HUMAN VALUES IN THE MOVIE

STRENGTH - In central scene, Bane locks Bruce Wayne(Batman) in a cistern like prison, has no chance to escape. Bruce trains and he doesn’t make a giant leap out of that prison but he tries, tries at last he makes it out of that prison. It proves that strength can overcome any weaknesses.

If we wish to overcome fear then we need to have strength to face the fear.

HOPE – When the whole city is under the terror of Bane, the only Hope of all the civilians is Batman. The movie very well portrays the felling of Hope in the masses.

As shown in movie, real world also need someone or something as role model to create hope in people so that they can also play their own role.

Page 23: Human Values in Movies

SELFLESSNESS - In the climax, the bomb triggered by Bane is about to detonate. Batman doesn’t have the time to think about other options of switching off the bomb. Then he risks his life and take the bomb out of the city and saves the city. When it comes to his or the lives of many he has chosen the city for his life. This is one of the best part of the movie.

Today many people just talk that they can do anything for people or society actually they cant do anything for them.

Now it seems that people like Bruce Wayne are extinct. people are now selfish they just think about themselves.

RESPONSIBILITY – The whole Gotham city was under threat and people needed their hero and it was the time when Bruce Wayne realized his Responsibility for his people, even when the people were criticizing him and hated him, then also he didn't backed out from his role.
