Course descriptionThis course consists of an intensive 3-days anatomical dis-section and kinesiological review of the lower extremity. The 12-hours dissection will include all regions from the hip to the distal joints of the knee, ankle and foot, including muscles & fascial dissection on top of that. The dissection will be supplemented by sessions of anatomi-cal and kinesiological lectures that will guide the partici-pants in the following dissection labs through indications for specific anatomical structures usually affected by major muscu-loskeletal problems to search for, kinesiologic models, fluoro-scopy videos, pictures/videos of previous dissections and spe-cific indications of dissection.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, the learner will:

4Perform a complete dissection of the lower extremity.4Understand the general topography, detailed attachments, innervation of all the muscles of the lower limb.4Understand the anatomical relationship between fascial planes.4Be able to trace the blood supply and afferent innervation throughout the lower limb. 4Understand the relationship between the structure and function of every joint of the lower extremity. 4Cite the major muscle drive and arthrokinematic pattern of movement unique to each joint.4Understand the kinesiologic synergies which exist between muscle and joint systems that provide for normal and pathological motion.4Be able to integrate concepts of kinesiology into clinical practice.
