INF Changes:Failure to load INF file under DTM RC2. To attain WHQL logo for Windows 2000 and Windows XP it is required to use Windows Vista DTM.This is a Windows Vista problem introduced in DTM RC2 and fixed in DTM RTM. Intermittent failure to detect ring after successful V.90 or V.92 connection with modem board requiring software ring detection.

WDM SL2801

Version 7.59.00

Problems Fixed/New Features AddedOperating

SystemHardware Platform

Intermittent false detection of Call Waiting tone while modem is connected. This is a very rare condition and it could result in the session to be disconnected.

WDM All

Bug check randomly happening when system goes to the suspend state during the "Sleep Stress with I/O" test from DTM RC2.

Windows Vista All

Version 7.58.00

Problems Fixed/New Features AddedOperating

SystemHardware Platform

Bug check 0x3b while running devctl.exe on Windows Vista, caused by Failure to allocate DMA during devctl.exe test which injects fault conditions when accessing the DMA later. The fix was to:1) Return initialization result to upper layer. 2) Validate DMA buffer pointer before access.

WDM All

Bug check 0x9F randomly happening when resume from standby or Hibernate starting from Windows Vista Beta 2 (build 5384).When modem goes to D3, a series of events will power down the codec and enable wake on ring. Sometimes, the bus driver will already be in lower power state and reject any requests coming in. This can also cause further failures when system

WDM All

resumes. The fix was to change the order of events and check for certain conditions before making power management calls to avoid scenarios where there is no response form the bus driver.

Modem connection is stuck when CW CID arrives and country is set to ChinaThe problem was fixed by:1) Allowing DTMF CID only for CID type 12) Add a new state handler for a state that previously was not handled correctly

WDM All

Random CWCID failure during MOH sessions using NetWaitingFixed by changing the method of detecting and identifying CID type 2.

WDM All

Failures to detect CID type 1 on some test cases in TIA/EIA 777AChanged the logic in some of the routines handling CID type 1 detection.

WDM All

Add support for call hopping on Windows Vista WDM Windows Vista

INF changes:1) Force BUFFERS=OFF for modems that have no hardware buffers (ignore INF setting)2) Default volume setting should be L3 for modems with buzzer CP3) Synchronize the settings for KMixer initial delays for 32 and 64-bit systems4) Add entries for XAudio files to make sure the CoInstaller will remove them during uninstall.5) Ignore DaaType setting from INF for modems that supports just Discrete DAA6) Add new INF files for all relevant OS/type/etc. combination so that call progress will route though buzzer when sound driver is disabled on a system with SmartSP board with buzzer.7) For HDAUDIO modem, UIPATH in default INFs should use HDAUDIO instead of PCI8) Add HDAUDIO prefix to ProductName definition for HDAUDIO modem in default INFs.9) Remove obsolete commented out lines referring to csacpl.cpl10) Failure to load INF file under DTM RC2This is a Microsoft problem introduced in DTM RC2. The workaround is to use[SourceDisksNames]1 = %WINDiskName%,,,instead of [SourceDisksNames]1 = %WINDiskName%,Disk1

SystemHardware Platform

System lock up when going to S3 or hibernation with HDA modem. The modem was changed to work around a system lock seen on a specific system. The lock was seen while returning from, or going to, a low power system state. The modem was found to be in a loop waiting for the bus driver. The change in the modem is to remove an indefinite wait state in the case where the bus driver is unavailable. This allows the system to return or enter the desired state without locking up. This does not ensure that the modem will work, as the bus driver must be available for proper modem operation.

SystemHardware Platform

The modem was seen to have Random CWCID failures (4%). The modem Caller ID detection scheme was modified to add tolerance for the timing between the signaling and the data.

All All

WOR was reported as not working on Windows Vista for Teton HDAudio. The problem was found to be in the configuration. The modem was changed to accommodate different ring detection schemes used with the HSF Teton. The new configuration method was added which allows the INF to control whether the hardware ring detection method or the software ring detection method.

Windows Vista HSF

Add the ability to hide the power management tab in the modem properties.

SystemHardware Platform

The modem was changed to correct a reference to an uninitialized set of parameters. A change to the codec interface made in 7.50.00 introduced the problematic reference on ATi , ALi, SIS and VIA. The problem did not exist in the ICH hardware module. The problem does not exist for ver 7.49.00 and below. In the failing condition the modem port open during installation would cause a system failure.

The modem was changed to prevent a system failure seen during Driver Verifier NDIS-Standby Open test. The modem driver was attempting to access information that had expired. This access of invalid information causes the system to blue screen. The change adds conditional checks on the information to ensure that they are valid prior to access. The blue screen indicates that the failure was probably caused by HSF_CNXT.sys.

WDM All

The modem was changed to implement a work around for an issue seen with SmartHSF4 (Bryce) when attempting WOR from S4. The symptom was that the system was no longer responsive after the RING was detected and the system begins to return from S4. The problem was found to be rooted in the status of the PLL used for the clock signal. In the failure mode the PLL was not configured to run. The work around is to ensure that the PLL is running in the routine used to return from the low power state. Since the SmartDAA4 does not have more than one power mode, it was assumed that the PLL (clock) would be running while the modem is active. The change is to remove the assumption and to verify the clock is running when the modem is directed to return from the low power state.

The modem driver was changed to place the modem back on hook when presented with the line conditions associated with the power cross test. This specific test is part of the Brazilian modem qualification tests.

Windows XPAMD64

HSF

A fix was implemented to correct gain settings in the codec after connecting at V.90 on certain lines. When the modem is placed back on hook the gain settings are reset as to allow proper ring detection. A gain switch change was also implemented that corrected a failure to detect caller ID. The In order to detect an incoming ring signal and then the CID signal to follow, the codec gains must switch from low to high gain and then back to low. This functionality has been fixed in this version of the HSF. This change applies

to discrete DAA products using softring. Specifically this fix applies to lead-free HSFi for ring detection and to Teton for ring detection and caller ID.

A Work around introduced for SiS AC97 modems going to S3. The modem now checks to see if the audio device has prepared the bus for power down. If the bus has not been prepared the modem makes the proper settings before going to the low power state. This workaround resolves a failure to wake on ring in Windows 2000 and in prior versions of the operating system. Windows Xp does not require this work around.
