IRBNet Background
IRBNet is an electronic system for managing Institutional Review Board proposal.
Only IRBNet proposals will be processed The important address for IRBNet is
www.irbnet.org
How to Register
Go to IRBNet at www.irbnet.org Click on New User Registration and
complete form Hints:
use proper name password should be 8 characters
Read and accept terms of use conditions. Add your affiliation.
Shortcut type “Minnesota” in “Search” Provide contact information
MSU email address is recommended.
How to Submit a New Proposal
Log into IRBNet (irbnet.org) Click on “Create New Project” Complete required information
you may omit “Internal Reference Number” continue to next page
Build Proposal (Project) Download MSU Application: complete and
upload Consider using Download/Templates for
support documents (consent, assents, etc.) You can download your own support
documents Ignore “Training and Credentials”

You will probably want to “share” the draft, if you have other members of the team. Sharing can be full or partial
Sign your proposal Submit your proposal
Accessing Your Feedback
You will receive an email indicating that a decision has been made.
Go to “”Review.”
Submitting a Revision
Review feedback from the IRB Go to “My Projects.” Click on proposal to be revised. Click on “Project History.” Click on “Create a New Project.” Do not use Unlock function. Label this as a “Revision.”
Submitting a Modification
See directions on the MSU IRB webpage (http://grad.mnsu.edu/irb/)
Download modification application in the after you sign in at IRBNet.org.
Complete the form. Submit the modification application and
any other supporting documents. Label “Amendment/Modification.”
Proposals that were submitted and approved using the ‘old’ online system or paper documents should use the IRBNet (irbnet.org) system for minor modifications.
You will have to create a “new proposal” if you had a previously approved paper or old online system.
Submitting a Continuation Proposal
See directions on the MSU IRB webpage (http://grad.mnsu.edu/irb/)
Download continuation application in the after you sign in at IRBNet.org.
Complete, then submit the continuation application and any other supporting documents.
Label “Continuing Review/Progress Report.”
Proposals that were submitted and approved using the ‘old’ online system or paper documents should use the IRBNet (irbnet.org) system for continuation.
You will have to create a “new proposal” if you had a previously approved paper or old online system.
