How can I interact with the New York Cares Facebook page?

• Our Facebook page hopes to inform the community about volunteering opportunities, events, and stories to get people excited about our projects.

• We want it to be a place where volunteers can have a conversation about projects, stories, and what they love about volunteering.

Great! But how can I share stuff with the New York Cares community?

• If you have something you want to share on our page, there are a couple ways to do it.

Great! But how can I share stuff with the New York Cares community?

• Facebook isn’t great at showing pictures posted on the wall of a page.

• Posts added to our page just show up in a small box on the right.

Great! But how can I share stuff with the New York Cares community?

• To make sure as many people see your post as possible, tag our organization in a post on your own timeline.

• This way, all your friends will see it, and it will still be listed on the New York Cares page.

How will this expand my network?

• By sharing the work you’re doing with our page and your networks, you can meet other volunteers who work on similar projects. You can get to know our Community Partners, our staff, and other like-minded people in different industries you may be interested in working in.

What else should I include in my Tweets?

• Including hashtags will help your Tweet be seen by more people.

• Including the handle of the Community Partner means they’ll see it, and possibly share it with their networks.

• If you have a good picture, post it! Everyone loves pictures.

How can I interact with the New York Cares blog?

• Our blog is where we share volunteer stories, how we’re helping clients, and discuss news and studies relevant to our work.

• It’s meant to show the impact of our work, and why people volunteer with us.

A few things to remember

• When taking pictures, be sensitive to your audience. It may be a good idea to check with your Team Leader beforehand to make sure the agency is comfortable with volunteers taking pictures.
