TEST DRIVE

ESTABLISHING SHOT - CAMERA 1 - PAN

Hiccups is riding on the back of Toothless, through several clouds, their pace slow and steady, ever so slightly rocky for their first flight.

HICCUP

OKAY THERE BUD, WE'RE GONNA TAKE THIS NICE AND SLOW.

Toothless roars cheerfully in response. Hiccup now looks for his cheat sheet for tail positions, mumbling to himself.

HICCUP

HERE WE GO HERE WE GO, POSITION... THREE, NO FOUR!

Hiccup pulls back the crank on the saddle, presses down on peddle then the tail reacts to the mechanical components. Toothless looks back at his tail, then turns forward with determination.

Toothless flanks left slowly, before beating down his wings and speeding up, swaying slightly, Hiccup looks back to keep an eye on the tail, again half mumbling to himself.

HICCUP

RIGHT... IT'S GO TIME.

Hiccup turns back around to grab the reigns before the two begin to dive downward towards the sea, pulling up gently as Toothless creates sea spray trail behind them as he dips his wing into the water

HICCUP

C'MON BUDDY, C'MON BUDDY!

The two speed off across the water. Toothless looks up at the upcoming obstacle with a determined expression while Hiccup looks with a half worried gaze. Hiccup now looks up and views the birds above them through the arch of rocky structure before the two fly through the exit. Hiccup looks down to feet and behind him to check on the saddle.

HICCUP

YES IT WORKED!

Toothless flies forward until hitting a rocky structure relatively unharmed.

HICCUP

SORRY!

Toothless flies off again, Hiccup tries to pull up but Toothless again gently crashes into another rocky structure.

HICCUP

THAT WAS MY FAULT.

Toothless slaps Hiccup's cheek with an ear.

HICCUP

YEAH YEAH I'M ON IT, POSITION FOUR, UH, THREE.

Hiccup pulls up on another crank and the two begin to gain a great amount height, Toothless flying vertically up towards the sky, all the while Toothless has his tongue lolling out of his mouth like a playful dog.

HICCUP

YEAH! GO BABY! YEAH!

The two power up even more into the sky, excited and determined expressions on their faces:

HICCUP

OH THIS IS AMAZING! THE WIND IN MY--

As Hiccup speaks the wind catches his cheat sheet.

HICCUP

CHEAT SHEET!

As the cheat sheet falls behind them Hiccup reaches out for the sheet, and as he does Toothless freezes in mid air, throwing Hiccup forward and his safety chord becomes unattached to Toothless. Toothless looks confused then catches sight of Hiccup in front of his and roars in shock as the two begin to fall to the ground at great speed. Toothless looks down at the ground and begins to roar helplessly and spin uncontrollably. Hiccup falls down and in an attempt to grab Toothless, he is thrown off by Toothless's wing.

HICCUP

OH GOSH! OH GODS! OH NO! ALRIGHT OKAY YOU GOTTA, YOU GOTTA ANGLE YOURSELF! OKAY NO NO NO, COME BACK DOWN TOWARDS ME COME BACK DOWN TOWARDS ME--YEOW!

Hiccup begins to try and instruct the spinning Toothless what to do, but before he can finish he is slapped away by Toothless's tail. Hiccup is thrown around in a circle which allows him to stretch desperately and grab onto the saddle, rectify himself and Toothless's position, and hook his safety chord back to the saddle. The two continue falling but are now facing upright, Hiccup with his cheat sheet in his teeth catches sight of the ground and pulls up desperately on Toothless's reigns. Toothless's wings upon up like a parachute, the two still falling at a fast speed. Toothless roars with a worried expression before Hiccup tries to read the cheat sheet which is unreadable in the wind, he quickly looks at the rocks then back at the sheet before throwing it away and grabbing the reigns with both hands, pressing back on a peddle, twisting Toothless's tail wing, the two now speeding forward into the rocks, making sharp turns and dodging the structures, all the while Hiccup changing peddle positions. Toothless barrel rolls in the air to dodge the structures, and darts between gaps until the two reach the other side unscathed. Hiccups lifts his arms up and cheers:

HICCUP

YEAH!

Moments later Toothless shoots out a fire bolt with a cheerful and playful expression, which explodes just ahead of them, Hiccup lowers his arms with an expression that is more annoyed than worried but with a slight smile.

HICCUP

COME ON...

The two fly into the fire and cuts to the headshot of a signed Hiccup resting at the side of Toothless.
