Overview

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) is a web service that provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. This guide will help you in terminating (deleting) an instance.

Applies To

Amazon AWS EC2 Instance

Launch – Amazon AWS Portal

Launch the Amazon AWS Portal; https://aws.amazon.com and click on “Sign In to the Console”.

Login - Amazon AWS Portal

Enter the Account, User Name and Password and click on “Sign In” button to login to the AWS portal.

Instance Terminate

To terminate a instance, select the instance and from the “Actions” “Instance State” “Terminate”

Instance Terminate – EBS Volume

After clicking on “Terminate” option, you will be notified volume that the volume associated with the instance would be deleted. Click on “Yes, Terminate”

Instance Terminate – Confirmation

After confirmation to “Yes, Terminate” option, you prompted to release the associated Elastic IPs associated to the Instance, click on “Yes, Terminate” to go ahead with termination process of the selected instance.

Instance Terminate – Status

Once the server instance is terminated, “Instance State” would be updated to “terminated”.
