How to take care of Hamster Hamsters are the perfect pets; these are small and lovable creatures and can also be called low maintenance pets. You don’t have to take them out for walks and are also inexpensive. With proper attention and care, hamsters can live up to five years. To enjoy your petting experience your Hamster should be 4-7 weeks old. There are two types of hamsters; golden hamster and Siberian/ dwarf hamster. The dwarf hamsters are difficult to tame whereas the golden ones can be easily tamed with a lot of ease. First things first, hamster care is no child’s play. With the hamster you obviously need to buy a comfortable cage and place it in a place in a cool and dry corner of the house. Do not keep it in some isolated corner, probably in corner where there is constant movement where you can frequently visit the hamster. Make the bed of the hamster with pine wood shavings, which is warm and at the same time absorbent and non-toxic. To feed the hamster you can keep a water bottle attached to it, make sure that the bottle is little away from the bedding as wet bedding can rot and your pet can also fall sick. Make sure you clean the cage regularly and provide plenty of chewy toys to the hamster and the sides of the cage. Hamsters love to chew on the toilet paper cardboard rolls found inside the toilet paper. To make your hamster comfortable a cardboard box can be placed connected to the cage with a 2-4 inch doorway for the hamster to get into the box. Hamster’s bed can be placed inside the cardboard box and hamsters seldom urinate in the box and hence the box can last for a couple of months before replacing it. I am a student and I feed my hamster twice daily. Hamster care is something that I take seriously. Ready-to-eat hamster mix is the best food that can be given to the hamster and of course, besides this fresh fruits and vegetables can also be fed to the pet, but I make sure the quantity is controlled as it’s a small animal.

How to take care of Hamster

Hamsters are the perfect pets; these are small and lovable creatures and can also be called low maintenance pets.

Good health of the pet depends a lot on the cleanliness of the cage and the hamster. The cage should be cleaned once a week and wiped with a disinfectant. But make sure you do not bath the hamster as the hamster can fall sick. Given that hamster is a great pet and companion, it is worth the effort to keep the little one happy and healthy.
