How To Take A Proper Foul Shot
By: Bob Schiessl
Taking a foul shot in basketball is one of the key concepts that can change the outputs of games. Each foul shot is worth one point and occurs when a foul takes place.
The first step in taking a foul shot is making sure you have both feet behind the line. As you get older it is easier to take foul shots without jumping but jumping is still allowed.
The following step in a proper foul shot is bending your knees. This allows you to have more extension in your shot to make your basket.
The next step in practicing your foul shot is making sure you keep your elbows bent.
Keeping Your Elbow Bent
The last step in taking a proper foul shot is following through with your shot. You need to remember though if you jump. Your feet need to stay behind the lines.
Once you have accomplished the steps of taking a proper foul shot all you need to do after that is practice. If you practice enough foul shots will be made with your eyes closed.
