HOW-TO successfully run your event using the AddOnin 10 steps.

Table of ContentsRequirementsInstructionsOptional stepTLDR:Common problems and frequently askedquestions

Purpose

This How-To is written to make OpenRaid users familiar with the AddOn, to answer frequently askedquestions about the process and to show users how easy it is to use. This guide can be used not only onOpenRaid, but also on There will be a TL;DR section at the endwww.curse.com/addons/wow/openraid.for people who are not fond of reading large amounts of text or looking to screenshots.

Requirements

Be the raid leader of an OpenRaid event.Have the AddOn installed in-game.

Instructions

Visit the OpenRaid page for your event and click on "assistant" in the upper right corner of the screen:

You will move to the AddOn page which contains numerous boxes and information.

You are given two choices:Import the data of everyone who is approved ORImport the data of everyone who is approved the reserves.including

We recommend importing the data of the roster you have approved, as you may not want to mass-invite every reserve if you are onlylacking 1 tank, but it's up to you!

(Strings have been altered for security reasons)

Open the AddOn interface in-game by typing /openraid in your chat window.

Click on the top right button; "Import Raids". You will see a large, empty text box. Copy and paste your String into this box and hit "Save".

You will now have successfully imported a raid as long as you met the following requirements:The string starts with the character-name and realm-name you are currently logged on to (You can disable this check inthe options menu). The string is formatted in the following way - after the event information (event number, name date and time) everyperson has a . The battletag is ignored if you are from the same realm.battletag-charactername-realmname

If both requirements are met, you will see the message: "Successfully imported the raid(s)". If this is not the case you are told why theimport failed. You are then able to view the raid in the calendar.

Importing a raid doesn't do anything just yet.

Every stage of an event (sending battletag-requests, inviting players and rating your team) is done in a different tab.

To send all the friend requests click on the button "Send requests".

Once you have imported a raid, you can click on the event using the dropdown button and hit "Send".

If you only wanted to use the AddOn to add Battletag Friends, and nothing else, you can use this string to do so. The data willnot be saved however, so should you wish to import the raid to rate users or save it in your calendar, you would need to returnto OpenRaid and recopy the string.

When it is raid time, you want to start your invites. This can be done in the Invite friends tab by clicking the "Invite" button in the mainmenu. You will see a familiar frame as the two from step 4 and 6.

Since the invite step is the most complicated of all steps, it will be explained in sub-steps:

Select the raid you want to invite players to using the dropdown menu or copy-paste the previous string from Step 2.Click on "Start inviting" to send the actual invites.

The first thing you may see is a red/orange bar. This indicates some of your attendees are either not a BattleTag friend,or are not online (red) or are currently online on the wrong character or already in a group (orange).

Over time the bar will change. If you see a part of the bar becoming green, the AddOn was able to successfully inviteplayers into your group, and are at that moment in your (raid) group.

After 60 seconds, or if everyone has responded (whichever happens first) the final status is shown. At this time everyonewho has not responded will be considered as orange. The invite function stops now.

At any time during the process you can mouse over the different parts of the bar and view the status of the 3 parts.

When your event has finished, you can assign ratings to your attendees. Click on "Edit ratings" and select the event from the dropdownlist. The colors of the list of persons could be:

Green. This indicates they have signed up for your imported raid and are currently in your (raid) group.Red. This indicates they have signed up for your imported raid, but are currently not in your (raid) group.Blue. If you have picked up more people than originally planned, you can select them in the list on the left and you canstart rating them too.

You can give every person the numbers of stars they deserve (just like on the site) and optionally give them a comment. When you aredone, you can click on "Finalize ratings".

In the event of you not rating everyone it will ask you if you want to give the unrated persons 3 stars. You will now get a popup with thestring you can copy.

When you have copied your string obtained in the previous step, visit openraid.org/addon and post it in the "Upload ratings" box.

You now have successfully run your event using the AddOn. If you have any more questions or suggestions, feel free to mail addon@ope and we will answer as soon as possible.nraid.org

Optional step

   11.  If you want to clear some friends space for future OpenRaids you can click on "Remove friends" in the main menu. This will show a new listwith every person that has been invited by the AddOn.

Click the checkboxes for every friend you would like to remove and hit "Accept". You will get a popup messages to confirm you want toremove X battletag friends. Click Yes if you are certain          you have checked everyone you want to remove.

OpenRaid is not responsible for incorrect or unexpected behavior, because for example the wrong person was removed.

TLDR:

Copy-paste the string of the site in the import raids box and hit save.

Select the raid from the dropdown box to either add or invite the players.

Use the status bar of the invite function to view the status of your raid invites.

When you raid has finished rate every person and copy-paste the result (after hitting

"Finalize ratings") at openraid.org/addon.

Optional: Remove the friends you have invited using the AddOn in the remove friends tab.

Common problems and frequently asked questions

"I have approved someone to the event, but it's not updating in game!"

The purpose of the AddOn is to create a link between the site and the game. Since AddOns are not allowed to communicate with the internet, wewere forced to create a different solution.Every time you update your event and you want it to be reflected in-game, you need to import the event again. This will update the date/time andoverwrite everyone that has attended.

"The AddOn is giving me popups that my string is incorrect, but I have not altered it!"

This sounds like a bug. Please mail  with the string, event number and all relevant information (character and realm name [email protected]) so we can troubleshoot your problem.

"I was expecting the AddOn to be OpenRaid in game, why isn't it?"

The AddOn was made to help a raid leader in leading their event. It solves the mindless copy-pasting of every battletag, which is prone to humanerror, and it is used to reflect who was attendingthe actual event in-game and who had problems coming online.

"Is there any way to have OpenRaid chat in game?"

We are currently investigating the possibilities, but we have no big plans at the moment.

"The AddOn is not translated yet, can I help translating in to my language?"

We have created a system to support different languages, so if you are interested in translating mail   with all [email protected] and if possible some dummy translationsto show your skill. You can view every string that's used by the AddOn in the General/Locales.lua file in your AddOns/OpenRaid folder.
