1. Get Organized

Some people procrastinate because everything around them is disorganized.

For example, you put off paying your bills because your desk is such a mess.

One of the best ways to get organized is the simple list.

Make a list of what you need to do, and then check off each task when it is done.

This will give you a great feeling of satisfaction and success.

2. Prioritize When you make your list, put the most urgent or

important things to do at the top. It can also be helpful to put the least pleasant task at

the top. When you get that done first, it will be like a weight

was lifted, making it easier to do everything else on the list.

3. Take Baby Steps I once heard a quote that said, "Life's a cinch by the

inch." It is true. Almost anything you do in small doses is

easy. That whole pile of bills in the drawer may be

overwhelming to you, but pulling out one bill and paying it is easy.

Break those big jobs into little, do-able steps. If you have a large task that’s causing anxiety, do

some of the smaller things related to the task as a whole. Thus the whole becomes manageable.

4. Use a Calendar Keep a planner or calendar. Write in all appointments and deadlines. Keep it in a handy place so you can check it often.

5. Give Up Perfectionism

You don't want to get in to the attitude of "If I can't do it perfectly, I won't do it at all."

That is a big recipe for procrastination. It is also unrealistic. We aren't perfect and we sometimes have

expectations of ourselves that we can't possibly meet. Strive to do your best, but don't set yourself up for

failure.

6. Just Get Started

A lot of times we put something off because we really don't want to do it, but when we make ourselves get started on it, we find it is not that bad at all.

We have let the thought of it become a monster in our minds.

Chip away at the task, and eventually it will get finished. Give yourself rewards once in a while to keep your motivation up.
