A previous scan job may appear in the Overview Image window when the program is first opened. This is okay and will be removed when you continue.

5. Locate the Transparent Media Adapter for negatives [placed beside the monitor].

6. Slide your negative; face down, into the appropriate slot of the Transparent Media

Adapter.

7. Lift the scanner lid and place the Transparent Media Adapter on the scanner glass. Close the scanner lid.

8. Go to the Overview Image window. From the top left corner, choose the Negative option from the dropdown menu.

9. On the Settings window, click on the Default button. For most projects, simply using the default will be sufficient, but you may need to change the settings if you have specific needs. [Contact Front Desk if you need assistance.]

When scanning a negative, it is suggested to keep the resolution at 300 ppi or above in order to scan a good quality image.

10. Click the Overview button in the Overview Image Window to start an overview, and

you will see an image of the negative[s] appear in your Overview Image window.

11. A negative image will not be detailed and will be difficult to view in the Overview Image window. If you would like to see a more detailed preview of the image, select the Scan Frame tool from the toolbar in the Overview Image window and drag a rectangle around the slide you would like to preview. You will see a flashing frame [marquee] around the selected area.

If there is already a visible flashing frame [marquee] in the Overview Image window when you select the Scan Frame tool, simply adjust the edges of the rectangle to envelope the slide by dragging the edges.

12. Click the Prescan button at this time.

If the Prescan view does not automatically become visible, choose View > Prescan Image – Negative from the top menu.

13. If you wish to fine-tune the preview image, select the desired image-processing option[s]

from the Correction menu.

14. Go to the Film Type menu in the Settings window, and select the film type you are using. If your film type is not included in the menu, you can select Generic or create a customized film profile. If you are unsure of your film type, leave this section as Generic.
